The etf SCHD is basically an index fund of strong companies that pay out dividends. It only has an expense ratio of 0.06% and has performed well since it came about 10 or so years ago. I highly recommend people consider adding it to their portfolio. With enough time, you can use those dividends later in life to largely live off of without touching the principle.

Dividends from the stock market encouraged me to begin investing. What matters, in my opinion, is that if you invest and make additional passive income in addition to dividends, you will be able to live off of dividends without selling. Great to know from you on time. Are there any bond ETF recommended in Schwab’s split this time, or other good bonds ETF? Thank you!

Question: as a non-American living in a non-US city, (Macau 🇲🇴), I think I have to pay 30% tax on SCHD payouts. Will my broker account do the tax automatically for me?

I don’t know if you mentioned this in the video but the dividends drop per share as well so if dividend was $3/share be4 split 1:3 it would be $1 after.

What is the point of share splits especially for etfs when you can just buy fractional shares?
@thehousingvlog70342 ай бұрын
He went over this in the video. It's mostly a psychological effect. But, Schwab in particular doesn't allow fractional shares for all their ETFs.

First, the fund dividend yield is decreasing from approximately 3.58% to 3.33% so my question is why? After the split will the dividend be divided by three going forward? I'm pretty sure but wanted confirmation.

Before you sell your NVDA shares, what's your average? NVDA still has a lot of room to run....with a quality CEO, strong mote, strong customer base (buying billions worth of chips for the next few years), strong product, and strong share buyback program. NVDA is likely to grow to 3-400 per share over the next 2-3 years.

It doesn’t matter before or after. You still own the same amount. All the splitting does is make it easier to buy shares. Since the price is cheaper. Value is the same.
@Positivecuriosity462 ай бұрын
It equates to the same, but after Oct. 11 you can get it at a cheaper price.

What about fractional shares? Do they get rounded up for the split purposes?

Instead of owning a gallon you own 4 quarts now.
@tonyherdina91422 ай бұрын
@aliasname602 So there is no benefit if you bought it before or after the split? It's not going to change the stocks SCHD holds.
@aliasname6022 ай бұрын
@@tonyherdina9142 When a stock is process of being split. There is speculation on the perception of value before and after the split. Will people pay more or less for 4 quarts versus a gallon? And the trading based on speculation may move the price around. SCHD is an etf with 103 holdings, and each stock is already being traded based on a number of factors,: earnings, consumer data, interest rates etc. I believe the SCHD split will be extremely faint and inconsequential background noise. SCHD is a long term hold, not something to be traded in the short term based on stock splits.
@dividendjourney2 ай бұрын
@@tonyherdina9142Exactly. It’s like cutting a pie into more pieces. But if you hold say 25% of the pie you’ll still own 25% just in smaller units stilling coming out to 25%. Hypothetical of course. But hope that makes sense. Makes things more affordable if people buy in whole shares, etc.
