The Life of a Saguaro Cactus

i live in AZ and when i was in the 4th grade 2003...house class did a cactus project growing our own sagauro and we all got to either keep it or take it home or give it to the state of Arizona so they can put it in their Cactus sanctuary biotanical garden....i decided to keep mine and repoted the little baby 🌵in my backyard....now 18years later, it litery looks almost similar to the one in 0:48 but a little more thicker

it is sad that we cannot see our saguaro having their old age, we would die first before them

How do the arms not fall off of the cactus? Wouldn’t they get really heavy and break off?

Wow! I don't believe that a fifteen-year-saguaro cactus is only 10-15cm. I have bought a Saguaro that is 37-39cm from a friend a few days, It was bought by a man from 7-8 years ago from other country (American?) but I don't know How high was it when that man bought it, so can you help me to guess its age? I love saguaro but I don't know so much about this type cactus. I'm from Vietnam. Thank you!

They only grow 0 inches to 6 inches a year in the wild, depending on how much it rains during Spring and Fall. They're easy to grow from seed and here where they are endemic if grown in a nursery or in rows planted in the Earth, they can grow up to 8 inches a year

@@matthewc.1964 I have two golden barrel cactuses that I have had for over two years and they both have only grown like one inch, One time it seemed like they were growing just a tiny bit but then after that they did nothing at all, they both look the exact same as they did last year no growth

If I started a saguaro cactus from seed now and wanted it to grow really big I would have to have my kids, my grand kids and my great grand kids to watch it grow and it would be huge by then by the time I’m gone.

I just started mine from seeds a few days ago by the time my time is up it will only be a few inches tall 😂

I Cannot grow a saguaro cactus from seed and have it be really big 200 years old before I die because I won’t live for that long lol
