One of Ancient Egypt’s most renowned royal women, but is almost unknown by non-egyptologists. She was known as the most beautiful, and intelligent queens in the ancient world. Her husband built a temple for her, she may have even been the power behind the Pharaoh… her name was Nefertari - The Beauty Of the Beauties.
But who was this mysterious woman? We don’t know much about her, but through years of research, and putting together various sources of information, we can now possibly tell a more complete story of her life.

My country Greece were allies with Egypt. We were trading partners. Pharaoh was asking jars of the oil that makes his heart to be glad. He meant the extra virgin olive oil. Pharaohs loved the olive oil so much. He said to the Minoan Greeks in Crete: "Please send me of your oil, that gladdens my heart so much..."

The scene at 37:17 is so beautifully bittersweet. He truly adored this woman even though he had so many other women in his harem. I always found it fascinating that one woman could stand so high above the crowd as she did, to become the Pharaoh's soul mate. I wish Nefertiti had such monuments built to her that had lasted, I'm sure they would be quite grand as well. I always had a hunch the two may have been related somehow. Great video and tons of little details about her I didn't know. I can't wait to visit her tomb someday!

Fantastic documentary about a figure who always fascinated me. The Abu Simbel Temples are proof that Ramses viewed her as his equal, and the art in her tomb is just breathtaking. In Ancient Egypt, 3 strong leading women fascinate me: Hatshepsut, Nefertiti and Nefertari. I can't help but think that Hatshepsut's unique experience as successful female pharaoh had some influence on both Nefertiti and Nefertari.

I searched up "Nefertari documentary" and this was one of the first results. I came here from a shorter documentary that discussed her as a great Queen, and wanted to learn more. This documentary was super informative and really helped me understand the love between her and Ramses II, feeling both the love and the grief in her short life ending. This is a beautiful tribute to her memory and a great documentary.

Nefartarri called him Sese like how his mom called him. She was his concubine because they weren't related by blood. But he loved her the most and wanted to give her his everything. As in those era, Royal's could only marry their siblings, give them a queen title. Nefartarri the brilliant woman although from just a noble family. Regarded as a queen by her husband ❤

Blimey how many times do experts have to say “she is the one for which the sun shines”? At least 5 I think… 😂 oh dear. Great documentary though, I really enjoyed a glance into the life of a strong queen who was loved and worshipped by her husband. It’s so rare to hear of any royal marrying for love, especially in ancient history. Women were so often used as pawns and forced into marriages just to seal alliances so it’s very nice indeed to see an ancient love story. Possibly even more romantic and iconic than Anthony and Cleopatra! Her relationship with the Hittite queen was beautiful too. What a powerful message for all women, if we work together instead of tearing each other down we can make the world a better place. Simply wonderful.

What a beautiful film! The presentation was very effective and drawing one in emotionally. I have long been attracted by the aesthetics of Nefertari's tomb and her history, but this film presents a lot of interesting things, the possible connection with Ay being extremely intriguing. There is considerable confusion regarding chronology between the death of Amenhotep III and the death of Horemheb, since the latter appears to have on occasion been ascribed many of the years of the Amarna pharoahs (Akhenaten through Ay). If Ay died in 1306 BC (assuming Horemheb then reigned for 14 years) and Rameses II was born circa 1303 and acceded in 1279 BC, it's not entirely impossible that Nefertari was the daughter of Ay, making her possibly a half-sister of Nefertiti and possibly a half-sister of Horemheb's second wife Mutnodjmet. Such royal connections would have made Nefertari a particularly desirable match, especially if the new dynasty was still on shaky political ground. The accessions of Ay and Horemheb appear rather murky, which may indicate a divided nobility, as speculated by J. van Dijk. And that could help explain why Nefertari was so unusually well educated and versed in affairs of state; she may have been a unifying figure in Egyptian high society.

IN MY OPINION. ... As the tomb and sculptures/monuments being explain. She might open mindedly shared his husband to the land and people for prosperity, But Ramses II in return, gave himself and the entire Egypt to her. ===== "Himself" in a sense that he publicly announced his affection despite his prideful character "Egypt" in a sense that he built sculptures/monuments/breathtaking tomb in the vast land to remind egyptian that there was a woman who rule and govern the land beside the greatest pharaoh, Ramses II. well it was just my opinion. some of my fantasy kicks in hahhaha

Thank you CURTIS and other interviewees for this video. I watched it over 2 years ago and just left it as that. In the meantime I came to know that I was the wife of the GOD who calles himself "I AM".... also known as AMUN, amongst many other of his names. Today (Thurs 23.06.2022) rewatching this video, I came to realise that I was (and still am) NEFERTARI, wife of RAMESES II. Hathor, Isis, Bastet, Sekhmet, Cleopatra VII, Mary Magdalene (and others) and I are of the same DIAMOND, just different sides/aspects. Nefertiti and Hapshutsut (and others) are of my "Soul Tribe" in the Spirit World.

An Excellent documentary with lots of new useful information for ancient Egypt enthusiasts like myself, although i really enjoyed the programme, I was however surprised at the lack of attention paid to the quality of the sound recording. It was a shame after the trouble taken to give a theatre style presentation, by all the presenters, which added to the impact of this excellent historical documentary, for it to be let down by poor quality of sound by the various narrators, when all said and done, by the nature of there role in this project of providing the historical facts, were an extremely important part in the making of this documentary. I have done the Nile trip as tourist twice, there is so much to take in, i intend to return when the pandemic settles down. Than you.

Very well done and I learned even more than I had about Nebettawy. The only minor discrepancies I noticed were that the chariots in war contained one person (12:06), a driver. In what I have read. Egyptian chariots carried two people -- a driver and an archer. Also, she would have worn sandals rather than shoes. Again, minor errors at best. I was very surprised as to her diplomatic duties. Rameses the Great was known as among other things a great builder, but it seems that she was also a builder of monuments herself.

24:10 It is certain that she was the regent while Ramses was out of the country, in Abu Simbel temple her titles start like "The Regent, Queen of High and Low Egypt...". So there is no doubt at all. :) 24:20: Please, let me know the author of this fanfiction, or maybe the book or the place where you took this story from, because in years of study and reading egyptology books and manual I never heard about such a thing.
