Charmander/Charmeleon/Charizard will always be my favorite evolution line. The only pokemon card i still have from my child hood is a 1st Ed Holo Charizard from the 1998-99 booster packs. I’ll never forget how 8yr old me felt seeing that card. Its still in the original card sleeve i put it in. I really wish i wouldve held on to more of them, especially now seeing the $$$ theyre worth

Ash’s Charizard has always been a beast I remember in black and white when Ash brought him back I was so hype especially since it shut stupid iris and her dumb Dragonite up lol. My dream episode of Pokémon is to see Ash use his Charizard, Infernape, sceptile, Greninja, Incinaroar and either Lucario, pikachu, or Dragonite as his team in a battle I’ve been a Pokémon fan since it first came out in the 90s (I was born in 89’) and my wife and I live watching Pokémon to this day with our son and I just hope when Ash goes to Paldea the new region after he beats or loses to Leon that he at least once uses a team consisting of all his aces at least once in my life time I wanna see that it would be so epic. Especially since 3 of Ashs aces are in my top 5 all time favorite Pokémon 1. Zeraora, 2. Infernape 3. Incinaroar 4. Greninja 5. Kommo-o I’d also love for them to let Ash catch a legendary or mythical like Zeraora or Mewtwo especially since they let the stupid character Goh that know one likes catch suicune that was supposed to be Ash’s Any ways these are my thoughts

The first season really gave charizard a huge character development. -abandoned for losing -kept his winning mentality and evolved quickly to a point it developed a short resentment for ash for not being a trainer he respected. -at charizard level he became complacent. Battle very little for issues with ash being it’s trainer - when he lost again vs poliwrath he understood that ash was a true friend. Didn’t matter if he won or lost. He had his back. - now when he fights the other charizards he was broken once again…soo used to winning with decent to little effort. A wake up call for all the slacking.

Never thought I'd be commenting on a Pokémon video all these years later 😅 But... What a great watch! Charizard was my favourite Pokémon as a kid, and I phased out of the series and missed alot of the later episodes so this was awesome to kinda catch up with his journey. As a kid I clearly remember the Magma and Dragonite battles, i was so pissed Dragonite defeated Charizard and saddened even more when Ash let him go to the Charizard Valley. (This was around the time I phased out). In hindsight, looking at Charizards evolution...I don't know if this was intentional but it's actually pretty psychologically deep when you realise that just like many kids with abusive upbringings...it tends to affect them as they get older and they follow the same pattern. When Charmander evolved into Charmeleon (essentially a teenager) and later Charizard...He showed similar traits to his original trainer Damian, where he only gave respect to those that were strong and disrespected those he felt were weak and unworthy. In the end I'm glad he managed to return to his loyal and respectful nature, but he still kept that mischievous/trouble maker side of him. He is essentially "the prodigal son". Such a deeply emotional story for a Pokémon, arguably the most iconic next to Pikachu and Mewtwo.

It's truly a beautiful story. Because CHARMANDER was extremely LOYAL to his former trainer and then got abandoned, he unlearn how to Love, because treason can do that. Then, to learn how to Love again, he had to RECEIVE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE from someone (Ash), even when he shouldn't, due to his behaviors. After all that, it reachs a point where Charizard recognize that Ash's essence it's the same as him. Both with Loyal Hearts open to unconditional love.

The only reason Charizard doesn't make much appearances nowadays is because it would make the league too easy. Charizard almost hard carried Ash in Johto when he was nowhere near as strong as he is now and he can pretty much solo half the team of most of Ash's current opponents.

Let me correct you on the "no match for Entei" part. Charizard was performing better and pressuring Entei constantly, until the Unown decided to intervene, and halt Charizard whil flying by emerging huge ice pinnacles, which were also damaging Charizard. Only then Entei managed to turn it around.

I remember watching Pokemon every Sunday as a child. It was practically the highlight of my week but I hated every sequense involving Team Rocket. They stole too much runtime.. Same recipe every time, Ash is in the middle of an important battle then team Rocket interferes before blasting off again. It got old really quick but for some reason I love them as an adult. I used to see them as the enemy, now I see them as comedy objects.

No offense, But I personally, Think Ash's skill as a trainer had NOTHING t do with Charmelon and Charizard's disobedience. A lot of it had to do with the mental scars he endured and the way he was mistreated by his original trainer Damien. It wasn't the fact that Charizard felt Ash was too weak and poor to be its trainer but because of how Damien used to raise it and some of him original trainer rubbed off on him when he evolved. So I Ash being a poor and lousy trainer and not being able to handle a fully evolved Pokemon is bullcrap. It was Charizard's old trainer rubbed off on him. Not Ash's trainer skill level.
