I always assumed Kalpana was a US born American of Indian origin, but now that I know she was brought up in India it makes me truly appreciate her hard but successful journey to NASA.

I wasn't even born when her plane crashed but since childhood, she had been a great motivation for me and infact most of the Indian girls. I still remember that there was a chapter in my English book about her and that made me admire her even more. My mother told me that when her plane crashed, she mourned the entire day and cried a lot. She is Kalpana Chawla, the women who taught Indian girls to dream bigger than ever before.

This video made me really emotional. When I was a kid, my sister who is 8 year elder to me had her room full with posters and quotes of Kalpana Chawla. She would collect every picture of her in the newspaper stick them on her favourite books. We made fun of her that she was obsessed. Now, almost 20 years later i realise how inspiring she was.

I was a kid when the accident happened so I found out recently about Kalpana . It is very moving because I am very inspired by people who have a difficult start but they follow their dreams no matter what. She is inspiring .She went to the other side of the world to chase her dream . Her mission was so moving and important ,to inspire people and especially people from countries where there are no opportunities, to chase their dreams no matter what and that there are no limits to dreams .Her death was so sudden , seeing her a few moments before her death when she did not even know it . At least she died for her dream that trully mattered to her , she reached the stars and fullfiled her dream. A true inspiration in todays world where so few people are passionate about their dreams

I was little kid that time, i remembered that day i heard news of crash, i looked to sky, it looks very beautiful and clear in himachal where i live but after getting to know about her & about space my viewing idea just changed, it started kind of fascinate me when i look up. She really was genius & lucky because India is very much different when this kinds of things actually come to be done. I SALUTE HER for her work & wish her craft had landed safely that day. 1:50 As a person who has been closely associated with a family of astronauts, let me clarify - this selection process is extremely rigorous any even if you know how to fly a Boeing aircraft, there are chances that you won't be selected! Also, it's very Expensive, and I don't think that, from the background that she belonged she could have afforded that. So the only way would have been working her ass off for money and Scholarships!!

The amount of hard work and dedication she put through to achieve all her dream is beyond inspiration to the whole world. She is the only person I have seen who achieved everything she dreamt since her childhood.

The school still exists and every year two children visit NASA....m from her city and her school....
