"Hello" from Wisconsin, USA. I enjoy all history, though it is fun to hear American history. As always, much love and appreciation!

I can't fall asleep now without hearing your familiar soothing voice. I wake up multiple times each night and your enchanting cadence and tenor always helps me easily fall back to sleep. Thank you for what you do!

I loved this presentation and look forward to the one on Franklin's experimentation. No rush. Do it in time. I love your voice and techniques and little jokes and so on. We love you too.

Franklin.... What a mind. Just think of how much he helped change the world through spreading the enlightenment and ideas of freedom of speech and press. What a man. Thank you for your presentation. I've listened to the biographies of others, but like your best. I'd like to hear Adams too. Another great man.

Adams is coming up soon! Stay tuned.

My favorite essay by Franklin is without a doubt, "Fart Proudly," an example of his jabbing at those pedantic fossils found in condescending, aging, and pretentious European institutions. In this case the Royal Academy of Brussels. One could call it a very early example of deep trolling. Even long after his death it continued to be picked up and republished, with the publishers dropping their own sideways fart jokes here and there, so perhaps it could also have been called an early meme, too?

"Telling German people they're not white enough", made me laugh while I was trying to sleep. I should've known better 😂 Thank you for a great year of knowledge and gems of humor.

33:44 - it is amazing what you can accomplish when your money goes much further than any of us have ever experienced. I imagine many of us would try new things if failing wouldn't cripple us financially for a decade.

Okay did he coin the proverb; "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush"? I still don't understand that one, unless it was written by a hungry man 😂
@eschsoapy28092 күн бұрын
It is much older than Franklin. It simply means a thing already accomplished is worth more two opportunities or deeds yet to be pursued or done. :) That one success is something to be proud of, don't worry about the two things you have yet to win.

I might have heard it was him who came up with that saying, hard to t race it back though.
