In my opinion, Eren Jaeger deserved better. His life came to a tragic end although it was for the greater good. It's messed up how he fought so hard for a world he couldn't even be a part of. 💔 He made himself the villain, so his people would be granted glory for their sake in the future. He was such a good person & cared about others. It's bittersweet honestly. He is a man that wanted to save his people including his loved ones by murdering the people(includes everyone) of the Marleyans that posed a threat to their existence. If he didn't commit genocide his people would have been the ones subjected to genocide. He was in a messed up situation to where he killed innocent lives as well as those complicit.

I agree with this, but I feel like the ending would feel kind of empty. When a huge manga, that is decently long, like aot ends, the ending needs to have impact. The most tragic thing about Eren was that he was stopped at the last minute making his war against marley futile, because of Armin and Mikasa he kept a small piece of humanity and let them live to stop him because they represented the freedom destiny robbed him of. What makes him a great character is that he saw how the world worked against the existence of his people out of a selfish viewpoint of superiority from old history. Eren decided to press forward so far to the point of having the ability to annihilate them despite bearing the nigh infinite guilt along the way from the immoral but necessary actions to win his war against the enemies who despised his race for hundreds of years. He is a man without freedom in life who is chosen by destiny to make an impact without being remembered, whose only purpose is to fight for what he believes in because he is essentially "the chosen one". It's a shame that there are few people with the will to impact the world due to positive changes being buried by more negative ones at a much faster rate by a larger more unstoppable power at the cost of something far more precious that won't ever come back which will lead to worldly destruction because of said unstoppable power in whatever form it inherits.

I mean he was a mindless villain. He had no freedom of his own. There’s songs in series about batting fate but in the end he was a slave to fate and you can’t battle fate. That is in line with reality today. Your death day is sealed you just don’t know when and your fate is sealed. No matter how hard someone try he won’t accomplish everything henwants or even at all. Just like some people are born for greatness and some are born for failure. In erens case he was born for failure. As his plan failed and left paradise defenseless and they got bombed and exterminated din the last chapter. In a way he did zeke a plan but worst. He saved them from themselves but in a more violent way. He is no different from zeke plan. But zeke plan would of cost less death. So he is a mindless villain doing destruction for no reason or no long goal in mind. Zeke plan would of saved 80 percent of the world while eldia live the res to their years in peace which is what happen with eren plan minus the peace because they were in a Cold War. The nations were buying time till they have enough weapons to kill them. So he was born a loser bound by fate it’s as simple as that. Why you think people in life born for greatness and some aren’t. Some born to be good at something and the other at some Hong else. Our fate is what we get. It’s dark but that’s reality . Just like someone with bad genetics can struggle all they want and take PEDs but will never beat someone with good genetics that take PEDs. Like someone who is born to be good at math and someone who work on it. The one who has natural talent and works on it that’s double advantage

This is my favorite story ever. From a mysterious conflict of man versus titan with little outside knowledge on what caused this titan war and following the story of Eren Jaegar as he overcomes struggle after struggle to fight on for freedom for his people, those he cares most about. From an impulsive, intolerable kid who just wanted to avenge his mother and eradicate the titans to a broken man who has lost all hope in this world but finds peace in letting his closest friends live on. Eren is not my favorite character in AoT, but he's the one I relate to the most and that separates him from my actual favorites in Reiner and Armin. Great recap on the beautiful character that is Eren, and rest in peace to him after 11 years of honorable and impactful moments.

Definitely one of my favourite main characters. He's incredibly complex, sympathetic, and does things that are both reprehensible, but within the context of the series makes sense, with himself believing the same thing, being forced down his path because it's the only way to bring some form of prolonged peace, having to distance himself from his friends and creating a path for them to succeed and live long, although he can not join them due to the magnitude of his actions, something he regrets but had to sacrifice. He was a slave to freedom, and while he achieved that for his friends, he couldn't be a part of that himself...
@magg26363 жыл бұрын
I agree however I dont see him as sympathetic and I dont see him as bring forced to go down this path. For example, Bertholdt was going to die by the smiling titan after he destroyed the wall, he redirects that titan to kill his own mom to make the future to where they are now when he could've easily just let him die and have Dina come back from being a mindless titan then telling his father to find her, there are more examples however I want to go into detail as to why I dont find him sympathetic either. He is responsible for everything killed innocent children and families and responsible for the future he made and forced himself into. But that's much opinion.

@@abyss6540 I mean I guess he's a hero because if he hadn't sacrificed himself to die then The power of Titans wouldn't have stopped, so I guess he's more of a hero, but it's quite controversial to say if he's good or bad
@MidGuardianZ3 жыл бұрын
but eren did not actually turned into a bad guy, he is still the same guy with a goal to eradicate all titans. but the method he did was questionable and can actually be categorized and considered as a bad guy.. look at it this way, how can they stop the titan curse?? spoiler alert, the only way to stop the titan curse is to kill the titan boss, the problem is, who is the titan boss?? if eren give the "titan boss" powers to someone else, the outcome will be different. he has to be the titan boss, he has to be the villain just so his friends will be known as the heroes who kills and stopped the titans. but in the end, it all goes back to his promise on episode1, to eradicate all titans on the face of earth and he successfully did it.

I think most of the hate of the ending stems from how Eren said he was just following the path. People think that means that his character development was retconned. However, that’s a bit of a misunderstanding of the dialogue. When he said that, he was talking about what he said to Mikasa and Armin, not all the other things he did. You see, a lot of people think that he could see the whole future, but he could really only see small bits and pieces of it, like the ending and what he needed to do to end the Titans. Therefore, his character development remains intact. Furthermore, Ymir wasn’t controlling him. Him being a slave was more along the lines of being enslaved by himself. Because the second he touched Historia, he was cursed with the knowledge of what he would have to do to save his friends and, if he didn’t try to strive towards the future that Ymir had shown him glimpses of, he’d risk watching his friends die. And if that happened, it’d been his fault because he had the chance to save them, but didn’t. As for him crying, that was admittedly rushed and, because of the countless reveals made just a second before, it comes off as a juvenile and pathetic. But it was actually meant to be heartbreaking. It was intended to enforce just how painful it was for him to realize that he’s going to die and will never see his friends again. Therefore, Eren’s character development does, in fact, remain intact through this ending.

Right!! I’m mad ppl took him crying as a weakness. But in reality GIVE THE KID A BREAK. He must have been in so much agony and he knew his time was limited. In no way was that a sign of weakness. It was him allowing himself to surrender to the humanity left inside of him in his last moments. That’s not pathetic. It’s heartbreaking and selfless.

Last of all. Eren had development in the secodn and thrid season part 1. He didnt get angry once after s2 . He didnt cry/get angry once in s 3 part 2. So he had developed then too. Also. He used rage to defeat annie in s1 but in the rest of the seasons he used brains.
@dsk34013 жыл бұрын
That's true. It did felt a bit rushed to me but seriously all that hate doesn't make any sense at all. He can see future only if there is some holder of attack titan and *not see everything* a 100 years from now
