Schofield tutoring Hood at West Point- to be a fly on that wall… Eerie and tragic how circumstances evolve from assisting each other to seeking to annihilate each other. And the thousands fighting with/for them… Spring Hill was a fascinating “what if” and historical game changer.

Complete crapola. He got surrounded and then got lucky due to a Confederate screw up at SpringHill, then got stuck again in Franklin and again got lucky at Franklin. If it wasn't for a lucky break with Updyke being in the right place at the right time he would have lost the battle franklin

You won't be able to properly defend that.. much less unpack that. Your opinions here and the counter offered is birthed out of a tired old narrative of less than scholarly attempts at writing about this battle by way of secondary and tertiary sources - and from SOME primary post-war sources who were biasedly disingenuous. Such 'takes' used to sell books.. I'd encourage more study in these subject matters. I see at least four potential errors in what you have stated.

@@jonharris722, really, did he not get himself caught surrounded at SpringHill? Did he not escape because Chetahm did not move Govan and Brown across the Columbia Pike as ordered to do so to close the loop on him? Did he not get stuck in Franklin, unable to cross the Harpeth? Did not the Confederates break the line between the Carter house and the Canton house? And while not positioned on purpose, was Opdyke's brigade in the right place at the right time? Specifically, what did I just lay out that is not factually correct? Schofield got lucky, plain and simple, and if Lee's corp had come on line sooner Hood would have attacked with his entire army and would have won
