I have to admit that it is sad that the actress who played Narcissa, Helen McCory, passed away from breast cancer at the age of 52. I wish we saw more of her in the movies aside from Half-Blood Prince, and parts 1 and 2 of the Deathly Hallows. Helen did a great job playing a spoiled, rich kid’s mother.

Ok, its official, Narcissa is my favourite character. Also when you mentioned that Lord Voldemort couldn't read her mind because of how much love Narcissa gave to Draco, it actually made a lot of sense, because as we all know (ok I lied I just finished listening to the Harry Potter audiobooks and I learned a lot), Lord Voldemort never knew what love is, because he is an orphan after all and it sounds like the staff at the orphanage rarely cares about the kids there. He only cared about power. So in that case, as his army grew larger and larger, that means the death eaters never have love or only has a tiny bit of love, because again, the death eaters wanted Lord Voldemort to reward them, it has been mentioned by Fenrir Greyback, although he never was a death eater, he is just an evil and bloodthirsty werewolf who just happened to work with LV and wanted to be generously rewarded. Death eaters only wanted power just like LV. It is just so fascinating that Narcissa is literally (as far as I know) the only character who has so much love, even though she was in Slytherin. I'm sorry, I'm blabbering a lot, but honestly Narcissa is one of the most interesting characters in the Harry Potter universe. Anways, great video as always Morgan! I wish we knew more about the American wizards and witches. I was always confused on if the USA is mostly purebloods or not; Rowling said the British purebloods didn't come over due to the witch trials and had concerns about splitting up the families, but not if other purebloods from other countries felt the same. Not to mention, Rowling said that no-maj racism wasn't an issue for American magic families, but if purebloods weren't common, then the population would be mostly half-bloods and no maj-borns, meaning no-maj racism would permeate the community.

Excellent video. I've considered in the past that Narcissa and Lily have something in common- defying Voldemort for the sake of their respective sons. Obviously in wildly different ways, but both times it _did_ lead to Voldemort's downfall in some fashion, and it makes clear their love. I definitely hesitate to call Narcissa "good", but at the same time, like... you take a step back, look at the whole picture, it's clear she has a good heart- she's just been taught all the wrong stuff growing up, and that definitely affected things. Narcissa and Draco I feel are two characters that had the potential to become part of the good guys, but their points of view changed just a little too late in the story to really make that happen.

Narcissa is a fascinating character. Complex. She is elitist, racist, snobbish, but... she does have a genuine love for her family. I guess that redeems her, somewhat. I cannot say she is a good person, because her motives for helping Harry were not altruisitic, but self serving. She was vigilant of her son. If Harry Potter being dead would have ensured Draco's safety, she would have been glad to see him die. That being said, her actions facilitated Voldemort's downfall. Narcissa never embraced Voldemort's philosophies like her husband did and certainly not on the lzealoutrous level of her sister, Bellatrix. I think she mourned her sister when she was killed by Molly Weasley, but Narcissa realized Bellatrix was as much of a threat to her family as Voldemort given her fanaticism. I know Harry spoke on the Malfoy's behalf at their trial, which is how they avoided Azkhaban. Good of him to do that. RIP Helen McCrory.

Narcissa was first and foremost loyal to her son and husband.. … she had been taught from birth about the importance of blood purity… so it wasn’t until Voldemort returned and degraded her husband and son, that she saw the Reality of Voldemort’s aims,, or perhaps how he went about it ,, were so different from what she had believed beforehand.. With Voldemort believing Narcissa's lie, I'd just have gone with Narcissa is an extremely skilled Oclumance. Snape was strong enough to be a double agent without Voldemort questioning it too much. The books never actually say Voldemort is a Legilemance either, to be fair. Voldemort can only read Harry's mind because of their magical connection, as far as the books have confirmed.

Andromeda is the most underrated Slytherin. She went against her prejudice family and married someone she actually loved , looking at you Bellatrix. Her entire family turned their backs on her and disowned her. I always felt like she could've been in Hufflepuff or Gryffindor.
