@@bonnielovely Pat was always happy! I deliberately connected her with Carole Cook, not long before they both passed. They both loved reminiscing with each other about their many years in show business. I didn't know for sure if Pat was gay, until I mentioned it to Carole. When my friend Charles Pierce auditioned for Ursula, they were looking for a Bea Arthur type. Bea was his best friend and he wondered why she had never been told. Eventually the word surfaced that Bea's agent thought she might be offended by Disney wanting her to play a witch and she was never told. As much as I love and appreciate Bea's talents, Bea could not have sang as powerfully as Pat did. ......One of the last time we spoke, Pat told me she had this huge teddy bear nearby, that always made her smile. When I asked her where she got it, she said she thought she must have bought it for herself.

Keep in mind, there's a deleted scene in the Little Mermaid movie where Prince Eric and his crew were singing a song about King Triton and the sea. They even mentioned about Ursula being his sister. This scene was supposed to be taking place right before Eric's ship was caught in the storm and Ariel saved him.

I know that this ties to the novels' more Villain sympathetic portrayals... but I still don't like how this origin makes Triton out to be so cruel. I never got the impression that aside from his anger against humans that he was excessively cruel or nasty to anyone, much less anyone in his own family. Where as with Ursula, with Ariel's status as her niece plausibly canonical in every version, Ursula DID intend to inact cruelty on her. Plus Ursula's use of deceptive contracts is part of her character. Triton, by contrast, loves his family as you can see in the three movies and TV series. Plus, the musical has Ursula sing about happily killing all her sisters until Triton stopped her. Personally, I think of Ursula as a half-sister to Triton in canon, their relation just isn't too relevant in the animated film canon because Poseidon is a Greek God who has many children with many different sea goddesses. Ursula might have killed her and Triton's older half-sisters in canon still. With Morgana being Ursula's younger half sibling on her maternal side (without relation to Posidon). It'd be why Morgana's bad at magic without using Ursula's chemical (the one she used on Melody) and why Morgana's envious of Ursula who's mystical connection is stronger due to Poseidon's lineage.

you're definitely right about ursula's intentions. she went after ariel, and in the novel there were times when she felt bad, but her inner monologue shows she has EVIL intent, and wants to cause harm. even with the sympathetic tone of the novel, she absolutely wanted to cause more harm than triton did. in my "triton: god of the sea" video, i will make sure triton gets his justice. i wanted to try to make ursula as good as possible in this video because it's her story from her side, but she absolutely was evil and bitter and spiteful i agree, i personally think the animated film's connection to the gods & goddesses could have been fleshed out more and they could have built the lore more into the hercules canon & built more on the family connections. the morgana points make sense too, if morgana doesn't have that literal "godly" magic, she won't ever catch up to ursula.

@@MintyPlush omg COOL i used to love neopets back in the day... omg thank you that's really kind, i actually struggle a lot with editing but i have been working really hard at it. i use easier programs rather than premiere, so canva has been good for me. or even capcut, but best i have seen for editing tutorials is daniel batal. he explains things really easily and simply. and then for filters for thumbnails or video clips, lightroom is really solid. you can download free presets so you don't have to do a lot of the actual editing yourself

My real name is Ursula. I was named after my grandma whose name is Ursula but our “L” sound is pronounced like and “N” sound in our language so she was called “Ursina”. I got made fun of so much in school that I decided to keep my nickname “Sina.” I hope the new movie and this video bring more attention to Ursula in a good light lol 😂 I just hate that this name is associated with “evil” like phoebe from friends evil twin sister; of course her name is Ursula. The Bridgett Hathaway fairy tales I reckon are closer to the originals, for example in the little mermaid the sea witch scratched her breasts and added her own blood to the potion, and the prince and the princess sleeping in the tent on the deck where they were wed, were illustrated in such a way suggesting they’re naked under the sheet. The stepmother in Snow White wasn’t made to wear red-hot shoes though she died when her heart burst after smashing her magic mirror.

triton certainly did have an influence on her character according to these sources, but i don't think triton is all bad. i think triton had his own issues and pressure growing up, and he took that negative energy out on humans, and on his sister

On the other hand, he did want to protect the ocean and the fishes within, and in the Disney universe these fishes have conscience, but still; even as the father of Ariel he still had his outbursts, as was shown in the Disney adaptation. I find videos like yours rather interesting. The Little Mermaid was the first movie I ever saw in cinema when it came out and I had the privilege to look at it from a child's perspective as well as an adult now.

I feel so bad for Ursula getting insults on her looks from Triton and everyone else. I already felt bad for her because of that in the movie itself, especially when she tells Ariel “You’ll have your looks! There are a few characters I recognized in this video. The 3 sisyes look like they were the same sisters from the gargoyle's TV cartoon. The woman looked like Cinderella oak aged up and older. Looks like the fairy godmother and then Ariel, the princess of the sea. Now, a full grown mother of melody, the youngest.I know it's the oldest daughter of Prince, Eric and Ariel.The secret queen c prints a king and ariel queen on land

I mean these are dark topics that can be disturbing. Just because it's a cartoon character doesn't mean it won't be disturbing. The warning labels are good for those who are not in the mood or headspace to listen to stuff like self harm, death, etc that way they won't go further. squids have 8 arms & two tentacles, so they have 10 total appendages. ursula has 6 (octopus arms) on the bottom and 2 (human arms) on top. so she has 8 total appendages. you're not entirely wrong though, even pat caroll argued that she was half squid, even though she is animated like an octopus. in this video, i went went the octopus interpretation because ursula's species is known to be cecalia, which is a mythological creature with an upper body of a human, and a lower body of an octopus OR a squid. but ursula's design uses octopus appendages, not squid-like appendages in their design. disney is very intentional, if she was supposed to be a squid, she would have squid tentacles, not octopus tentacles. her daughter uma, in descendents is also animated with octopus tentacles and arms, not squid tentacles or arms

ursula is a cecaelia. the cecaelia is a half human, then half octopus OR squid. squids have 10 appendages, octopi have 8. ursula has 8. she has 2 human arms, and 6 legs. her legs are drawn like octopus legs, not squid's. squid tentacles have barbs, like squidward in spongebob. i don't think either is wrong, but i personally went with the octopus interpretation because of the number of appendages, and how they are drawn
