This was one of my late fathers favourite pieces of music right up until his promotion to glory in June 2020 and he lived every day of his life, living to theses words and I have fond memories of playing this next to him in the Band and how he always talked about what the words ment even though I had played it and knew what it ment he still reminded me to help me continue on the path of the Lord

I listen regularly to Classic FM radio which is continually obsessed with 19th century music, good as it is there is a great deal of music that matches it, and I include this piece played by a superb band.

1:13 1 O Jesus, thou art standing outside the fast-closed door, in lowly patience waiting to pass the threshold o'er: shame on us, Christian brothers, his name and sign who bear, O shame, thrice shame upon us, to keep him standing there! 3:22 Refrain: Behold me standing at the door, And hear me pleading evermore: Say, weary heart, oppressed with sin, May I come in? May I come in? 5:03 3 O Jesus, thou art pleading in accents meek and low, "I died for you, my children, and will ye treat me so?" O Lord, with shame and sorrow we open now the door; dear Savior, enter, enter, and leave us nevermore.

Hard to believe this wonderful piece of music dates from 1950. In my opinion, DeanGoffin's masterwork.

This piece and others like For Our Transgressions and Challenge of the cross were written to challenge and bless the player and the listener. Today composers vie to write the most difficult piece and bands just want to show off that they can play it.

This band had really a very specific and nice sound. Smooth and precise with no tendency to any artifice. How is it nowadays? Does somebody know?

@@normgardner4560 What a pity. Enfield Band as good as any in the country. I think their interpretation of Resurgam would have won the Brass Band contest
