Reminds me of RP’s reaction to rehearsal for this film. At Cannes he said he’s not into rehearsal, that they spent 3 weeks rehearsing, and said it to the audience. The director, Robert Eggers, corrected him that it was only one week. RP is like, “No way!” with Willem chiming in that it was only one week. Eggers said, “It was 3 weeks for you.” and all three were laughing, but RP had a level of incredulousness in his laughter. It was indeed amusing.

I admit, I had to watch it 50 times to try and make sense to what I was seeing and hearing. Rob should be recognized for his talents and his ability to transform into so many different characters. From Tyler Hawkins, Salvidor Dali, Jacob Jankowski, Eric Packer, Henry Costin, Rey (The Rover), Monte (High Life), and now looking forward to his roles in The King, Waiting For The Barbarians, The Lighthouse, TENET and even The Batman. My 30 year old son saw a special screening of the movie, here in my country Australia. He said it was the best movie he had seen in the last ten years. That said alot to me, because he has been watching about 5 to 6 movies a week since he was 18.

I’m extremely excited for this movie and I adore how invested the actors seem in their roles, however, Eggers seems super invested in himself here. It may just be me but he seems to really enjoy talking about how hard it was for HIM and how this is a stepping stone for HIM while Defoe and Pattinson seem down to earth and extremely passionate about THIS project and the product they created together. Just my observation

wtf are you talking about, he made the whole thing and had been preparing for it since before The Witch but you're going to act like the actors that show up to set for the shooting days would have equal investment in it to Eggers? the amount of work Eggers has put in from developing the project to pre production to shooting to post production is astronomically disproportionate to what the actors put in and they themselves would agree with that sentiment.
