welcome to ak banner hell lmao. as an ak veteran we used to have only 2-3 limited banners per year but that quickly skyrocketed to the point where we have limited banners almost one after the other. honestly, i think that as long as bluepoch scales back on the powercreep that limited units bring it should be fine. making every limited a "must pull" will probably kill the game sooner or later as it becomes more and more p2w, but what arknights does is that their limited units are good, but they don't do everything. not every limited unit is a must pull, which reduces the strain on f2p players and the community as a whole

In Arknights, there are a fuck ton of different situations that a player needs to adapt. Reverse doesn't have that imo. It has a simple combat system and the character/boss designs don't allow niche strategies to be utilized. Furthermore, some units are plain unusable due to the way their kits work, which are usually CC characters, (Druvis, Diggers, etc.) because devs made CC a niche thing rather than a strong feature of the game a player can utilize. This also adds to the character/boss design problem. In AK, you CAN use slows, stuns, knockbacks, etc. (although some characters deal enough damage to not need the CC) because the devs create an environment for these niche strategies to be used. In Reverse, the only feature a player can utilize is damage and other utilities that can increase this damage. Therefore, the best characters that can use these features are favoured more. The problem lies with the game design rather than the banner system in my opinion. I still love Reverse, but the way they design this shit is infuriating...

​​@@12thjuly63so far we have zero meta needed, I mean the only thing you can flex in this game is Raid, and it give no pull, so average casual/dolphin can just get their SSS and done. After playing HSR I would say this is miles better for a game that use the same gacha system. No bs RNG gear, no meta gate behind main pull sources, and no shietty gacha signature to make up for gear rng as well.

@@hellokiffy69 agree, but if you compare it to the same TBS genre (which mean higher stat requirement, from direct/indirect stat boost to enhanced skill/mechanic even new passive altogether) like HSR or Cat Fantasy, I would say the game is absolutely generous in comparison.

I spent some time browsing NGA, though it doesn’t represent the CN community as a whole. There were quite a few posts talking about how limited banners have lost their value and how Bluepoch is being greedy/trying to find the limit of how much they can get away with. Anjo Nala has received lukewarm reception because she looks like a worse copy of Isolde / Tuesday.

From what I heard based on people in a discord watching the CN livestream, the reason 2.2 is stacked with characters and rewards is because they reached 1999 mil downloads. I don’t think 3.2 will have limited characters again and it might just be at CN new year (X.6 patches) and 1 year patches (X.9) and that 2.2 is the exception not the rule. It could also be similar generosity because it’s the first new chapter in the story, and while there was no limited 1.4 also had similar levels of generosity. I don’t know this is all speculation, but I’m hoping this 3-4 limited per year doesn’t become standard practice.

I'm f2p and I have all the best units so far. Tooth Fairy, 37 (she's one of the best in my heart), 6, Jiu, Getian (he's also one of the best in my heart), Isolde, Vila, Windsong, and I have nearly 120 pulls saved up for Lucy, should be guaranteed by the time 1.9 rolls around (Will also try for Kakania, hopefully I win the 50/50) so I don't think I'm *currently* in a position where I have to worry about missing out on certain units, limited or not. Honestly, I'm not sure what to think about the limited character every 3 months. Logically speaking, so long as the content doesn't adjust to their power level to the point where I HAVE to pull for the limited ones, then it's fine. But if there ends up being a character I really like and would have to skip out on in order to guarantee the limited unit, then I could see a problem. I guess it just boils to not falling victim to FOMO too much lol

Exactly this, IF you need a limited characters to clear the content or getting the extra reward then this is a bad things. But in reality, we don't even need specific characters to do that. Limited characters is not a must pulls in R99, even if they're become meta. Arknights already do that. They realease a lot of limited operators but their content still fun and can be clear with lower rarity operators. But one thing that I hope R99 added in the future, they should add old limited characters in the shop so people got another reason to do 200 pulls.

I for one have 0 interest in the new limited unit as a character but I still want to get her purely because of that fact. What I'm trying to get at is how one shouldn't fall so badly victim to FOMO to the point they intentionally miss out on a character they like for the sake of getting the limited one. I myself did this with Jiu where I chose her over Spathodea whose gameplay and design I actually liked more, I wouldn't necessarily say I regret it but it still hangs in the back of my mind sometimes. Of course, it's up to you how you want to play and who you want to pull! These are just my thoughts! ^ ^

@@Ins1gn1f1c4nt first of all why do I get to know you replied to me after 8 days second it's sometimes ok to prioritize true limited characters over one's you like because you can lose 50/50 to every character at the end of the day olus no one know when and how will true limited characters rerun while spathodiya reruned now even tho it was on a not too good banner we can still get her back in ways but who is to say when will jue and Lucy will rerun like they are still not reruned haaaa I also want Windsong and Ezra their burst animates look cool but they will soon rerun while the probably won't for a year

Just my opinion, Jiu was for Chinese new year, Lucy for end of season 1 (patch 1.9). And Anjo Nala for mid autumn festival. They likely to repeat limited banner for every Chinese new year and mid autumn moving forward, so 2 limited banner a year, and one comes in at end of season which runs for about a year. So maybe safe to say, there will be 3 limited banner yearly.

In my experience coming from Arknights, which does a limited every 3 months, the frequency of limiteds definitely contributed to how often I experienced burnout from the game. Feeling like "I should save for this limited, pull that limited, oh, there's a collab banner, so I should skip this limited" just adds a lot of unnecessary stress. Even though you have a way of getting past limited characters by sparking, you need at least 300 pulls (200 if the character is old enough), which means skipping around 6 months worth of banners. Atp, I'm contemplating fully quitting the game just because of how bad the gacha is, and 4 limited banners per year doesn't help it.

Same experience, ive been play arknights from the start and my burnout with the game is constant. Im nearly at the point of qutting it just because of the horrible amounts of limited banner in the game. If arknights continued like this then it may ends soon enough in the future.

I recommend you to don't think about the FOMO of limited unit since even with Wisadel, the game can be still be cleared with other characters, pulling for meta make people to get stress out of everything, better just skip whatever banner you don't like (like the characters, archetype, aestethics, etc) and just pull for what You find cool, cute, hot, interesting! Don't let the limited FOMO get You! Trust me i'm from FGO SO thats why i'm not bothered by limited banners, just let them go!

Remember that you can use your current team to kill enemies.always aim for p0 and get 1 copy of each character you like.i know many of you want get p5 because you are busy etc and only want to use that team.sadly unless you spend or save you cannot do that.please if you read this remember that 3 months goes by slower than you think so you shouldn't feel like it will go fast 🙂.we have 1.9 to get through before 2.2 which is 3 months after 1.9.focus on the now rather than the future and good luck everyone i hope you get Lucy and Kakania in 1 10 pull 🙂

I think the fun part of the game for me is at this point i roll for character that have a good kit and i very like for character-wise. I don't like the idea you P5 limited character, and never gacha again because it's more than enough to clear all endgame content. It'll make ur gaming experience so boring. I love powercrept and got a new character, because somehow it make me excited and waiting for future patch of this game, but just give some time for us to enjoy a character until they release it powercrept

Sharing pity between limited banners is the obvious easier "fix". But here's the thing, they already commited on separated pity, which is why they add mileage ticket. The bean counters already calculated that this is how they can maximize profit, without upsetting the paying customers. i'm skeptical they will change anything, unless chinese players really complained about it.

It seems the pattern is every 4 months since cn got Jiu in January, then feb, march, april, and may(being lucy) then got june, july, august, september(being Anjo nala) makes sense cause 12 months a year so that could be why 2.2 would be the half anni cause its every four months. So if they want to do 3 limited characters a year they do 12/3 which is 4(months), if they wanted two a year then they do 12/2 which is 6(months)

I was thinking of pulling for Tuesday cos she is waifu. But if they start putting these kinds of limited banners so short within each other without any proper reasons except for profits, it will kill the joy of r1999 gacha where waifu collecting was initially very chill and I can pull for whoever I like without much harm to my f2p bank. Since I started from day 1, I am already at the stage where there is truly nothing much to do as a f2p. My main pleasure is to upgrade the characters. Saving and not pulling for new characters for 3 months to just have 1 or 2 from the limited banner will create a super boring period between with absolutely nothing to do. There might be a high chance I might quit out of boredom from repetition with no actual goal to work towards.

One of my problems is that I can definitely see a future where it's just like you want to have a full team of limiteds because they are stronger, better, cooler, etc than the regular standard pool characters. So it kind of incentivizes people to just perma skip non-limiteds if they care about having a strong account or playing for meta. It feels like they want that Hoyo money by making characters limited. The difference is that at least in that situation the pity is shared in a much friendlier way. This just looks like a big red flag if they don't do something to address player's concerns over it.

I think I’m just getting burned out on the system. Gacha games introducing new money grabs left and right at the cost of player enjoyment but the problem is that global expendable/fun money is going down. Making your product less fun and more limited isn’t going to magically give strapped players more money to spend in a economic downturn. The people who would spend are already spending.

Another problem is that there are no reruns for limited characters, if you miss it you lost forever! They could put the old limiteds off-rate in every limited banner on semi-rate up, or something like that i don't know... But RN it's pretty unfair

I think the income for now is already fine. Special patches give 100+ pulls so far, so you only need to save up around 40 for the limited, which is not that hard since a normal patch gives 70-80. Meanwhile, take AK for example. I don't know how the game is now cause I quitted long before, but back then, even saving 2 patches prior to the special patch wasn't enough.

Or you could control the FOMO, tbh. Arknight best aspect is you don't need to pull to be able to play, try applying that to HSR lol. R1999 is not that good, but then again its expected that turn based game make easier money since it have higher emphasized in units performance, either in team or in individual, thus incentize ppl to pull for any extra stat you might get. Most others game have dupes that give you SIGNIFICANT boost in form of new passive/enhanced skill, while R1999 just boost the stat which while certainly make units stronger its not a must pull to make them usable.

I did really get into watching the subway surfers while listening to you yapping 😂 Abt the limited banner....yeah i am basically panicking rn, im f2p, was planning to pull Lucy, Kakania, then Joe cuz i like him and maybeee Mercuria if I still have some pulls left, after that skipping 2.1 fully to save, but after Anjo Nala came out im not even sure i could even pull for anyone after 1.9 if i want to have any chance at all to get Anjo. This out of nowhere limited banner destroyed all my plans for future pulls😢 Edited: just to be clear I was just airing out my grievances and basically agreeing with Jakazin opinion. The Anjo Nala limited banner coming out just 4 months after Lucy surprised me is all. I'm well aware as an f2p player on gacha game I couldn't get every character I want and it's not like all true limited characters are must have. I have played R99 since the global release, at this point I am getting bored; Limbo, UTTU and Mane's Bulletin are a breeze. So what I'm searching for is a character that interest me personally, that's why I want to get Anjo. But as an f2p I need to plan ahead to get her, so yeah I was whining about my own pull plan being need to be reconsidered🤷🏻‍♀️ So either you want to pull Anjo or not, good luck and let's just have fun playing guys~ We're all R99 enjoyers here ❤️

I played since global release and have almost every 6 star character from all the patches so far. As long as you plan ahead and only pull for P0, you can gather almost every new chara. at that point if they really want to keep with this just go with the hoyoverse aproach and make every character limited with shared pity... The sense of a limited banner was "you're skipping like hell half a year, hoarding the pulls, then you get limited char to p5 and feel accomplishment". Now with the Windsong outclassed the limited Jiu and already THIRD limited banner announced there's no sense playing these games anymore, both for FTP and spenders alike. I don’t think they’re gonna decide releasing limited banners every some patches because yeah the first time it was for the chinese new year and half anniversary with Jiu and now we have the Lucy one that is supposed to be an anniversary special and now we’re getting this limited that actually has a reason same with Jiu and Lucy. Anjo Nala is supposed to be some carnival special event and they’re giving away a free 6 star because this too and they have always given us 30 free pulls when we have a limited banner running. And i don’t really think this is much a worry because they always do this kind of gifts because they’re actually doing celebrations in the game with even generous rewards. And with power compared to limited and no limiteds we know that Jiu is now getting replaced on meta by newer units and as i know her pick rate has been decreasing. But i do really think this was a coincidence i think if they were gonna to follow this selling model they would already started since 1.0 doing limiteds every some patches u can’t build a community used to your gacha and change the way it goes after a year. We are fine as long the limiteds appear for some celebrations on cn and if they keep being that generous x3 pulls free we usually get now every time we get a limited its actually good and if they actually do the limited every few patches they won’t sell so much normal banners or they will make op characters so they actually do sell. How I feel about the limited banners. Its simple for me I will just go from p5 limited to the next p5 limited and not pull anything in between anymore. The base teams are already complete for me and as a monthly + bp level of spending you'll be able to p5 every 3 months a single character. This might be an unpopular opinion, but if youve been playing a free game for several months and you havent even spent £5 on it and you expect to be able to get all the best characters, maybe gacha games are not for you. If you complain that you can't afford £5, you have other more concerning problems than pixels on a screen. If you spend on the monthly pass, do all your dailies, limbo and participate in any events going on, you should be able to afford 1 every 3 months. Just wont be getting portrays unless you get lucky.

If you're a spender/day 1 player your roster is already packed and you can pretty much pull for whoever you want. I feel like the current gacha playerbase have become pretty entitled than it was years ago, people typically accepted they can't get certain characters, or spent money to obtain them. Another issue is putting gachas in general on a pedestal, when the system at it's foundation is predatory and aim to get you to spend. Outside of that, people seem to complain without looking at the current meta and game difficulty. After 3+ months of playing, Limbo becomes a joke, you can i3 a unit immediately each patch and you should be able to SSS Raids. So what's the big issue? People want everything when that's not how reality works.

For me... It depends on my luck on my pulls on both limited and event banners. You're right that the limited banners should share pity to other limited characters. I have already a high pity after getting P1 Jiu Niangzi... so I should get an early 6-star (50/50). This is almost the same situation as Arknights... while in Reverse 1999, Jiu Niangzi is a Chinese New Year Limited while Lucy and Anjo Nala are Main Story Limiteds. I kinda sense their reruns for chances to get Jiu Niangzi is being shared to the next CNY Limited. While Lucy and Anjo Nala reruns possibly at the 2nd Anniversary Limited (will also have a chance to get them while pulling the limited banner) So I'm hoping that Bluepoch will approach this issue and make adjustments to the limiteds despite being similar to other gacha games, maybe they could add a twist that can ease F2P's savings. Don't get me wrong, 2.0 and 2.1 have great new characters to the existing archetypes in game, but decisions must be made in order to save pulls.

Azur Lane also has this system where we get Ultra Rare characters, basically the Limited banner counterpart, every 3 months. They don't share pity with standard banners and its a 200 pity too. The only thing is that Azur Lane is VERY generous with pulls. I hope R1999 also becomes more generous if they really plan to release Limited characters every 3 months. They could also stop making every character outside Limited characters super good. Another solution can be having a system to "buy" portrays for ANY character or accumulate their "shards" so we can buy the characters themselves, including Limited characters, in the shop even when the event/banner has already ended. idc even if it's be expensive af or takes a long time to grind, as long as the option is there Luckily for me, I only want to pull for Lucy, Kakania, maybe J, Tuesday and Anjo Nala, but I'm still worried for my pulls in the long run

My plan from the start was to go all-in on (truly worth) true limited banners. I’ve saved enough for a guaranteed P5 limited (~420 pulls). Every 140 pulls (x3) means a 3-guaranteed limited, and with 200 cashback , I can grab 2-limited portray in the shop. Even with the worst luck, I’ll still get 1-3 standard characters (random) with that math. Just wasting 20 pity or not if you're lucky. But honestly, standard characters just aren’t as hype anymore since they’re will be in regular pool. And it's not like I need them, 'cause once you’ve stacked portraits on one (truly worth) character, you can breeze through all the content anyway.

But with limited banners coming every three patches going forward, and then, if you missed a character you wanted but can only get in the future via a duo rate-up, that's a big L from Bluepoch. I don't think Limited means they always out power then non limited. Since most of people here familiar with Arknight, let's use it as example. AK limited are R6 operators, Shu Siblings, kirin yato, W and Rosmontis. Are they strong, yes but not that point of strong where they completely dominate their respective class. So limited banner 3 months is still dependent on the players, the question is always 'Why you getting this Character?' and as far i can see BE i still quite generous with their freebies so i'm fine with this tho maybe because i come from game that introduce the first safety net with limited EVERY SEASONAL (summer limited, x'mas limited, halloween limited, limited cuz limited, new year limited, valentine limited)

Gacha game - any gacha game - is a slot machine. You don't like it, you don't play it. Every character will be rerun sooner or later, so what's the fuss? Also I don't quite get the point about "needing" a specific character. Reverse is a very easy game, you don't "need" any specific characters to clear content, YT is full of 3-4 star clears. So no, I don't have problem with them adding limited characters. I like a char - I pull them or fail if I'm unlucky, simple as. Well, concept of limited just by existing is kinda ok, but there's third already, cn is just 16 months in so slow down bluepoch, pretty please. What's more concerning, we can see a pattern now, every 3rd patch/126 days since last one released, which gives us window of 2 patches. Wooow, it would be even cooler if we actually care about charas in those "fillers". As you said, at first it was a celebration. But it's more of a harvest now... Such limiteds will cause only harm to the game imo, community overall may get disappointed, some paying players might leave, casuals won't get their favorites etc. I mean, they can't really just increase income with more limited, it's not how it works, I'm sure players are also okay with 2 limited per year, this is more of acceleration at the current point, not improvement which player base should tolerate

The contents in the game right now are not even competitive so... just play whatever you want to play if you ask me. Just try to get 850k points on Mane's Bullletin(it's fine even if you can't), and at least limbo 5 (if you cannot afford to spend resources to 3-4 characters per limbo) I even use Charlie, Sweetheart, Baby Blue, Shamane, etc. from time to time.

For me, when games push your hand on which character you must pull in order to complete the game content, it is time to start choosing another game to play, because it is a baaaad omen... Oh man, how I miss DFFOO... Not quitting the game, at least not for now, but definitley won't pull on another character, even if I really love it, until I understand how this periodic limited banners will work. It really depends on how the balance of the game goes. A general rule saids that "Festival units" (thats how we call them in other games) are what a player F2P should AIM unless there is an important role that a Regular limited (thats why we call the big ones Festival) has access. If every 3 months there is a limited banner that is kinda "fine" becaus you can normally skip regular units unless you like them and IF you like a unit you should pull for it specially if you are a F2P. Because in the end this is a Gacha game. As a F2P you should NOT aim for get all the unit. We have tools, leaks mainly to know how strong un a vacum most units are going to be so if you want just "meta" shifting units as a F2P you can do that in some degree. But just in some degree it is impossible for a F2P get the key unit in every meta because is not a given that every Festival unit would be as powerful as expected (which is good and bad at the same tiem) You will see eventually a very niche limited unit that is just doing something that is not really great in the game in that moment or forever. So this is my opinion as someone that ha been playing a lot of gachas as f2p long time ago: Choose what you want to play, what you like to play, and stick with it. You will be very dissapointed the moment you get meta unit that dont fit in you account and them you are forced to go into the hell of pulling for units to build a whole new team or not unit your unit.

They could solve the limited problem by putting pity carry over, for example: I spent 80 pulls on the Angel Nala banner, so the next time she comes back the pity will remain at 10, or even better, every limited banner could carry the pity. I think this change would be great, as I don't see a problem with limited banners, since normal characters enter the banner after 3 updates, which is already much better than most gachas, besides the pity being low and the psychubes being completely free, that is, We only spend money on the characters and nothing else, at most the skins, which aren't even expensive! Honestly, Reverse 1999 is really good even with the limited character banner problem.

I kinda hate it... Imagine f2p like me only getting over 110+ pull every patch and you can't guarantee if you will get the character or not because of the 50/50 system. Also pity range of every pulls is over 60+ pull, so you force to skip some banner to pull for those limited character whose pity is not shared to standard/feature one... It feels like we are slowly shifting into limited banners meta, which is a combination of both power and fomo. If you are a veteran player, you would likely have a pretty rounded roster of afflactus carries and supports. Characters like Windsong who is strong like crazy may not really entice us since we can red SSS raids without her, even less so for those who care less about meta. As long we don't "need" the new characters we could just save for the next limited thing which could be a good thing for us since we can save unilogs. This however mostly apply to veterans players, for new players or players considering starting this game, I think it may turn them off.

But global should have more leeway from CN future insight so they can prepare whether they need to actually pull or not. F2P can still thrive by pulling what you NEED from whats missing in your existing roster.

If you had a lot of 6*s in this game but have not build them enough (at least lvl50 psychube, lvl9 res, I3 lvl20) then to me that just means that the WANT that you had with that character was a passing interest, you never really NEEDED them as you are building horizontally and not seeing the potential of the character. Then a new 6* you want comes by and then you pull for them, and then end up building them properly again, and this cycle goes on until you are exhausted. Which is something I want others to avoid doing since I prefer vertical progression, I like using the ones I deliberately pull and use the ones I happen to get and adjust to it. I really don't think this is necessary to add but for additional context I have to add that I'm f2p and have skipped a lot banners and am still doing fine and am unironically considering to not pull Lucy as while I like her as a character, I am not that intrigued with the gameplay. But that's just me and my experience.

I don't like it, but I think it's reasonable. first of all this carnival thing (1.4 and 2.2) is like a half-anniversary patch so they had a reason, and tbf there's a nine month gap between anniversary and lny. lots of cn players are unhappy about the 2.2 patch bc they didn't say anjo nala's gonna be limited so everyone spent their pulls elsewhere + the free new 6* is random rather than letting them choose. but yeah generally it's not that unreasonable for them to make the carnival char to be limited considering the gap between lucy and the next lny imo

Global players are very grateful to the CN version, because global players have leaks of several future patches. With these leaks, F2P players can really consider which characters will be needed in their team. If you can complete all the content in this game, then you are free to gacha any character, but if not, then focus on the limited unit first. With every 3 months I think we can get 140 pulls for the hard pity limited unit.

I have no problem with the every quarter 1 limited because its more management. We in global have the luxury to know what is coming so plan your teams you want to use. Skip burn, pull poison etc. We are getting to a point where you have got 2 teams that can clear anything the game throws at you, no need to stress if a character is limited or not. Besides that I personally think they are using the Arknights gacha system so I wouldnt be surprised if we can get them later with the 200 pull tickets.
