i have the original g10. works perfect. bought an extra battery to have on hand. ive found the battery charge will last about 3-4 hours, but its nice to have an extra. i use it to practice and to gig. no problems, no noticeable tone loss. and, i have been using the g10 for about 2 years . Great review Jonathan!

@@JonIsJustTooLoud ahhh, good question. I could not find a place to buy a battery on its own seperstly at the time. Idid buy a transmitter/charger which came with a battery. My original battery came with a line 6 amp that has the wireless option. i sold the amp but kept the battery! Ha ! now i have 2 batteries! The guy that bought the amp wasn't wanting the wireless option. crazy!!!

I bought a cheap set off Amazon around $35.00 and it works way better than I expected. Not perfect it can rotate and the plug can make a noise. But I don't make noise tripping over cables or pinching them under a chair.

Hi Johnathan. Loved the playing as usual. I actually own the G10 Transmitter and a Line 6 60 watt amp with the built in receiver and charger. That sounds convenient but I have to tell you that I now wish I had bought the reciever too so I could use it with my pedals. I like the transmitter though and so far it's worked on all my guitars including the battery powered systems. Great video as always. God bless you my friend. You're an inspiration.

Jonathan: Pretty nice review, thanks. Couple things. Even though I am 99% a home player, I too have gone wireless [currently the v2.0 version of the Xvive System]. The freedom from cables is awesome indeed - I run the Xvive into my "pedalboard" which only consists of a Boss GT-1 and Boss RC-1, powered with an awesome rechargeable pedalboard power supply from Joyo. Other than the cable running to my amp[s], it's the most wireless setup I can imagine and is more than enough for my simple needs. But your point about the transmitter size and angle on S-type tremolo guitars is spot on. 2 of my main guitars are Ibanez S series models, which feature even more recessed jacks on the top of the guitar body than all standard Strat-style guitars. The Xvive transmitter just didn't want to plug in securely enough as the unit itself was too large and the male TRS connector too short - I ended up having a local cable sifu here in Hong Kong make me 2 pairs of custom length high quality OFC TRS mono cables [male and female end], each about 18" in length. So I basically end up having to make my own kind of old school wireless pack, attaching the transmitter to my strap. Annoying indeed in terms of usage. But I can't argue with the sonic quality and the overall freedom I have gained. The 2 custom cables cost me 20.00USD. Crazy cheap with good quality cable and gold plated plug ends. Without having to break the bank for my humble needs, I have looked extensively at most all of the sub 200USD wireless guitar products out there, finally choosing the Xvive, mostly because of price and limited availability of this stuff in HK and reasonably decent reviews. However, I have just ordered from Thomann the Harley Benton wireless system - it looks to be a rebranded version of another system but the transmitter looks far more low profile than either the Xvive or the Line 5 G10S you show here. I am hoping it sounds and works with competent basic functionality and that the transmitter is indeed low profile enough to fit the more recessed input of my S-series Ibanezes and also not interfere with my trem arm. We shall see. Maybe you can do a follow up video on this to do a deeper dive spotlight on what makes this unit different from most all others - the receiver unit is specifically designed to sit at the start of a pedalboard chain ON your pedalboard and looks to be able to be powered and rechargeable by standard 9V pedalboard power supplies. And also follow-up with how you are finding the GS10S while using it in your studio. Also, just a suggestion for your lazy subscribers - maybe give links and prices to where you get your gear from. :) cheers and thanks for the content!

Hi Johnathan, great video as always! I wanted to pass along a potential solution to the unit in the way of the trem bar. I use a vox headphone amp for traveling/private practice. I had the same issue, as the unit stuck out. I rigged up a 10 cm long extension cable, male /female and then plugged in the unit. The extra length allowed me to Velcro the unit securely out of the way. Maybe this could work for this as well? Really enjoy and appreciate what you do!

@@JonIsJustTooLoud Oh right! Good point. What I did for that was to put a strip of Velcro on all my guitars and a strip on the unit itself. Changing axes, no problem! Hope the clarification helps!(thanks for getting back to me!) Cheers

Jonathan, Great Video my friend, thanks for your time. I've enjoyed several other videos you've done also. I have one question, when the Remote Unit (which plugs into the guitar) is finished charging, in the Base Unit, does it automatically turn off so you're (NOT) draining the Remote Charge because the small Button is still pressed in? I have a Yamaha THR 30II Wireless and that's the drawback with it, it continues draining after it's done unless you remove it from the THR Amp right away. Thanks

Hi Jonathan, I just subscribed recently and I am enjoying your channel. For the G10S, can you suggest how to include a volume pedal? I see the G10S works with regular powered pedals (e.g. reverb, delays, etc), but typically volume pedals go first after the guitar via cable (and they are passive). Should I try a particular type of volume pedal w/G10S? Thoughts? Thanks.
@JonIsJustTooLoud
@JonIsJustTooLoud 3 жыл бұрын
Well all you have to do is to connect the out from the receiver to a volume pedal and then to to your effects ✌️❤️

I know this video was done a few years ago but I bought a G10S about 3 years ago, but have an issue with the charging. I charge it fully before we start playing but by the end of the set (say 1 to 1.5 hours), the charge is down to one bar!! This forces me to charge in-between every set!! I've forgotten once to charge it during the break and the power was in the red by the end of the set. Have you experienced this problem Jonathan?
@JonIsJustTooLoud

The thing with these batteries is that they don’t last long.. three years is actually quite a good run. Just get another transmitter. Mine conked out after two years because I was constantly using it.
@lexluthier8290
@lexluthier8290 5 жыл бұрын
Rechargeable battery? Hmm. Obviously more environmentally friendly than your regular Duracell but....if it conks out mid-gig, what then? And the batteries won't last forever - when it dies (and it will) can you buy a new transmitter cheaply? Not convinced yet. Great playing as ever Jonathan, thank you.
@JonIsJustTooLoud
@JonIsJustTooLoud 5 жыл бұрын
I've thought of all that...I would probably make sure it's all charged up before the show. Batteries will die out in time.. But I guess not for the next 3 years or more.. In which case you are able to buy another transmitter. I don't really know yet.. Will check out when I use it for my next gig! ✌️🤓

@JonIsJustTooLoud

The line 6 Helix LT volume pedal failed on during the show but the day before I start rehearsals. Yamaha and Line 6 were instrumental in providing me another unit. As for your other question, yes.. The Ampero can temporally replace the Helix. But there will be lots of limitations to how I want my sounds to be.🤓✌️
