Anthony, I love you man I was trying to think of what I could do. That would be very helpful because before I evacuated this is something I was wondering about the whole time because people kept telling me it was bumper-to-bumper and don’t forget the paradise fire you’ll probably get burned up if you leave too late, but it looks like a lot of people have left and you are watching right now. It’s a very, very simple journey.

That burrito I am not lying to you was about 2 pounds and it was a steak burrito, I could not believe it when she handed me the bag of food I can feel my biceps are really sore because of how heavy that damn burrito was hahaha. Barbara so I think the Forrester is a beautiful car. Let me tell you a little story so I’ve had really bad credit for a long time in the past few years. I’ve really done well to build it back up. But about five years ago, my vehicle broke down and I was doing OK and my mother who is financially suffering told me that she would put a car on her credit if I could help her pay for her car. So she’s on her lease with a Subaru Forester and I’ve been blessed enough to be able to take care of it for her and it’s an absolutely beautiful vehicle. I was going to get myself the Forester or the outback that I’m driving right now. They’re both absolutely gorgeous. I never ever anticipated the luxury Subaru models to be this nice. I’m very very lucky to have this vehicle. I love it.

Glad you have left the danger zone. You have a long drive ahead of you. I hope people take heed and leave. What a great idea to video how easy it is to leave. I have been through five evacs since 2017. We have it down to a science. I keep us at “ Level 1 Ready” year round. It’s not even a big deal anymore. I have our paperwork organized, precious stuff organized, dogs ready and keep bags packed in the car year round. The extra clothes have come in handy many times. My most neurotic habit out of these experiences with fire, I NEVER LET MY GAS TANK GO BELOW HALF FULL! Never. If the power is out, no pumps work. We live up by Lake Oroville. There are no gas stations between here and Gridley, next stop Marysville. During evacuations, people are nuts.

@loismiller77423 ай бұрын
@@bigbearweatherandmore6621 yes, for better or worse, being prepared,with a plan and evac exit routes worked out, gives us all peace of mind. A little background, I’m an east coast person, married a Californian. I’ve been in CA for 38 years. I had NO CLUE what “ fire” meant. It wasn’t til Sept of 2013 that “Fire” became part of my life. We had a big one near our community. On top of that, our home had been burglarized the previous March. It was ugly. I got mad, it was frustrating. I didn’t understand enough. So I went into “ Mama Bear mode,” must do something to change things. Nobody was ready for fire here. We were a bunch of intelligent uninformed people. I recognized that for my family to be safe in the nest, the rest of the nests in the big tree( this community) needed to be safe and on the same page. It was a uphill battle. We have great neighbors who were of like mind. Out of the chaos, I contacted our Sheriff’s office and we started a huge Neighborhood Watch in our area. 100 people came to the first meeting! The focus became Public safety, crime awareness and fire preparedness. Turns out two of my neighbors, within a mile, were CALFire Battalion Chiefs. The Sheriff and the CALFire Chiefs recognized the potential of helping me get the balls in the air. Wow did we learn a lot. We worked together on meetings, crime awareness, Fire science education, Fire scenarios in our neighborhood and evacuation planning. Many changes were made at the county level in that time. It all mattered. July 2017 we got nailed with the Wall Fire, 6000 acres, it was in our yard. Took 41 homes in our neighborhood. No one was hurt or worse. We had already been at fire education/ evacuation planning for several years. That helped. That was the start of many smaller, but nerve wrecking fires in the area. Then 2018, the Camp Fire. Sadly and very tragically, The Camp Fire changed the game. Since then we have had the Bear, Dixie, Thompson and Park fires. 87 people perished in the Camp Fire and 16 in the Bear Fire. Thank God for Sheriff’s deputies, CALFIRE, County agencies, CHP, DA’s officers, probation officers, CAltrans first responders all working together and people FINALLY getting the memo to get out of harms way. As far as I know, no one perished in Thompson or Park Fires. That is the win, all that matters. I know people who got burned and traumatized evacuating both the Camp and Bear fires. It’s no joke. There is no reason to mess around with fire. Leave early, be ready, it is not that hard. Of course there are way too many people who are stubborn blockheads who have no business staying in a fire zone with a garden hose as their defense against a fire storm. They risk the lives of FF trying to save their scared lives at the D hour. As a result of all of the drama, chaos, fear, PTSD and frustration, I became a one woman advocate for public safety awareness and kept after our county and state folk to improve evacuation routes. We only have a couple of ways out of here. The hazard trees hanging over the road and Hwy drove me nuts. Our CAltrans officials really stepped up when I brought issues to their attention a few years ago. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Lives are all that matter. Community, people helping each other ( like what you do and your community does). It is not that hard to spend the hours organizing paperwork, extra clothes in small carry ones in the car, keeping fueled up, animals ready, policing around the property regularly to check combustibles, doing fire drills with the family. Shoot, every time we have gotten evacuated, we learn something. Also, staying in touch with neighbors, knowing who is really vulnerable and making sure they are signed up and on the radar with the county SNAP programs and/or someone designated to help them. Butte County deputies and other agencies are on it! We have been through too much since 2013. There is a core group of people in our neighborhood now, who are very aware and committed. We don’t have a website or Facebook. We do emails and meetings. We talk to each other weekly through our GMRS radio project which was started in 2019 after the Camp Fire. All communication was lost across the foothills here the first day of the fire. 64 cell towers burned up. We use batteries, radios and repeaters now for that worse case scenario. The project was so successful amongst our neighbors that other communities formed radio network. During the Park Fire in Cohassett, the Sheriff’s Bloomer Hill GMRS repeater was critical for the community and reaching Sheriff’s office. That fire was horrible too. Comm cut off to Cohassett. The info about fire prep is all over the county and stateOES, CALFire, Sheriff’s websites. People tend to bury their heads with the old adage, “ it hasn’t happened, it won’t happen here”…..till it does and they aren’t ready. “Prevention,” is my middle name, I am wired that way. 42 years as a dental hygienist carping at people to floss and take care of their mouths and health before crisis hits, is the same mindset. A little planning effort and organization, you are going to save yourself a lot of aggravation. If you want more info on the GMRS radio project, send me your email and I’ll send you info. There is a Butte County GMRS website with lots of info that some of our folks keep alive. That is past my pay grade! Fingers crossed your beautiful community is spared. Stay safe. Rest assured you have helped a lot of folks @ your dedication @ you tube videos.

Takes me 1 hour and 10 minutes each direction to get there and I had to go 3 different times. I’ll be posting another video later today for an update from big bear. Hope you’re well bro. Thanks for keeping us in your prayers, my friend.

Some one taking care of the reports found en any animals of this area ?
@bigbearweatherandmore66213 ай бұрын
Oscar, I’ve been wondering the same thing my friend. Especially the zoo animals I’ve been very concerned and I don’t seem to be getting any responses from people that I’m contacting. And sadly, I think it’s a really awful situation for the wildlife. There’s so much that has burned any of those animals that have survived are going to really struggle finding food and it breaks my heart. They should airdrop a bunch of random food for these animals.

I am glad you're down the hill to a safer place! Side note, Mammoth will start to snow on Monday, that seems very early! Hopefully it starts snowing up there in Big Bear to help make the mood up there more happy! (:
@bigbearweatherandmore66213 ай бұрын
Dude, they already had snow a month ago. Can you believe that? The whole town was white I couldn’t believe it when I was looking at pictures of Mammoth Mountain. I wish we would get some early snow. And I appreciate that man. Thanks for looking out for me always

@@bigbearweatherandmore6621 I know! It's awesome how it snowed up there! On KZbin, there is a nice guy with a channel called Sidetrack Adventures, he checked out California's 5th corner, in the middle of Lake Tahoe, and he went during the cold spell, he was very cold out getting wet in the water during those few days!

My brother lives in Running Springs. He stays there to protect his neighbors and the animals.
@bigbearweatherandmore66213 ай бұрын
Wendy, your brother sounds like a damn amazing person and we need people like that for sure. I just hope he’s not gonna put himself in too much jeopardy because clearly he has a sister who loves him and thinks highly of him but I really appreciate what he’s doing my next-door neighbor told me he’s going down with the ship if that happens and that breaks my heart because I love him but he’s an older man. He’s a veteran and he said he’s not gonna start over again he’s gonna go down with the ship, I’m trying to convince him to go, but there are men out there and then there are real men out there and it sounds like your brother is one of the real men out there

Greetings from the heart of Silicon Valley in the south bay area. Came across you on KZbin tonight. Enjoyed your trip down the evac route. Crazy that elevation jumps up from the Valley to 6000 ft+ in your area. Subscribed. World Central kitchen rocks. They'll feed you in Gaza or in Socal if you need it. I bet they killed that steak burrito yum.Thinking good thots for all of you. 👋👱♀️💕

Vicki well let me first say welcome to the channel. I really appreciate you subscribing from so far away. That makes me very very happy. I’ve been working on this channel for 10 years doing the best that I can usually the content is about our winter weather, but I’ll do anything I can to make sure I can get out that could help at least one person and that’s what these videos about the fires have been. I really appreciate your compliment. You seem like a very lovely person and I want you to know that you are exactly what this channel is all about. If you do, give me the great fortune of sticking around with us, you’ll start to see how many wonderful beautiful people are on this channel and the comments are so beautiful and we have such good relationships so welcome to the channel and yes I ate that damn thing so fast and it was about 2 pounds of a steak burrito it was amazing

@@bigbearweatherandmore6621 Thank You for welcoming me. I am a 75 year old 5th generation California Native. I have lived my entire life in the sf bay area. I was a tech illustrator in the military houses in the 70s and 80s then switched careers to massage therapy. I still do a few clients here and there. Swim a mile a day in our pool here at my mobile home community where I have lived for 41 years. I love the mountains. My dad was a lifeguard in Yosemite when I was a kid so we spent time there. The climate changes and extreme fire behavior in California are so worrisome. The mountains and foothills are just loaded up with communities with limited egress. Hopefully folks are level headed. I want to kick that old codger in the butt. I have seen so many oldies in these communities saying they aren't leaving because they are too old to start over. Sad. If you ever get over to the bay area me casa e you casa. You can get a relaxed crash a hot meal and a nice massage treatment with hottub soak. I'm a heart ❤ and will fit in with your channel peeps. You might have a cat or two on you.👋👱♀️🐈🐈🐈⬛🐾💕

No way my friend. Well, let me apologize for our area polluting your area usually California pollutes other areas in different ways lol I just hope it’s not too bad and I love your area of Colorado. I lived in the front range for for a few years all over the front range and I miss it terribly so I’m really glad to hear from you all the way down in Pueblo.
