I watched the "cut" several times because it surprised me too. But it's not a cut. He starts moving closer to the piano after the scream. Then, when it zooms out, the figure who looks like Tyler up front is the camera man. The lights make it harder to see Tyler, but he's there, and he sits just in time. That's not surprising. He's a perfectionist with his performances. He times leaps over the piano so he lands at the keys one note before he has to play them.

I tried to look closer … if you do I think you can just see him moving quite quickly to get there. All this talk of lip syncing etc …. I really don’t think Tyler would even perform if that was what would be expected… he’d just be like no we don’t do that

Lol Tyler is a master of just appearing in places 😂 maybe that's why the jump yo him being on the piano, before I looked closer, didn't even phase me

Yup! It' not a cut. There's a video here on KZbin of the audience's POV where you can see him walking towards his piano. I think the entire clique collectively gasped when he did that. He really doesn't get enough credit for his vocals. They've always been great but they continue to get better and better.

There is no cut. You see him making his way to the piano and he has a few seconds to sit back down before the vocal line come back in. If you watch videos of their live shows, you’ll see he is a master of moving from place to place and instrument to instrument while performing! It’s one of the ways he compensates for being just a 2-man band!

I think it’s easy to underestimate his singing ability & it has grown over the years so much. There’s just something about his voice to that brings all the emotions, makes you listen

I love this one.. I don’t think it was cut, I saw a side view and he was much closer to the piano than it looked. The camera made him look much further away than he was.. ahh but let’s talk about that scream, it made a perfect song even better. And I agree, his voice is simply beautiful

Tyler is doing his teleporting like he has at all the live shows. That guy could show up anywhere. Must of learned that scream from Chester Bennington.. chills for sure 😢❤

I just knew that hearing this song live was going to be something special, and MAN was I ever right! These guys know how to wrap an audience around their finger, whether they're stage-diving or just sitting down at their instruments, and that is a rare gift. And you just know Tyler put every single ounce of grief and love in his body into that scream. I love how he kind of beckons the camera closer right before that happens, because he just knew everybody was about to lose their minds... As for the camera cut: I know there are videos of this performance from people who were in the audience of the Game Awards, so I definitely don't think that this was pre-recorded or anything. They might have done the same tricks they used to show Josh teleporting from place to place in the performance they did for Jimmy Fallon, but otherwise, I unfortunately could not tell you what else might have happened...

There’s another video from the crowd’s perspective where you can see him walk back to the piano. The guy in front and center as he walked to the piano was the camera man.

I agree, Tyler is a great singer. I wish we could get this type of vocals out of him more often. But I also understand if he sang like this 2 hours a night, every night he would destroy his voice. But boy are we lucky when he gives us these treats.

if you watch the videos from the crowd, tyler walked back to his piano to the right side. it was just a switch from camera A to B.

I saw the recording from an audience members POV... Nothing wrong and nothing cut. He wasn't that far from the piano in RL. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

You fixated on the cameraman. Tyler just walked backwards. That's it. But soon many people mix that up. There's a side view from the audience and it's super clear. I know this wasn't your favorite song. I hope it fits a bit better into their catalog for you know. Sorry it left you feeling like it was cut and edited.

No cut, he had plenty of time to get back to that piano. His back was already turned before the camera switches to the overhead view. We know that Tyler is well versed in the timing it takes to move around the stage. Watch it again, its not a cut.
