You can replace most members in a band. Although it can be emotional depending on how important they were, you can replace a drummer, a sampler, even a guitarist if you find someone who can replicate their style. But you can't replace a singer. A lead vocalist is literally the voice of the band. When you take them away, the band is officially over. They can make similar tracks, with Mike's thankfully familiar voice, but without their lead vocalist it's not the same band. They are no longer Linkin Park. Linkin Park died in 2017 with their singer. And for the people saying that Emily isn't trying to replace Chester, that's obviously true. Nobody can replace him. But a new singer means a new band. I love their new single "The Emptiness Machine", but it felt like a feature each time I listened to it. Like "Linkin Park (feat. Emily Armstrong, in the absence of Chester Bennington)." It's not the same. You can't change your singer and stay the same band. They can make more music, and it could be amazing, but it won't truly be Linkin Park.

And overall, like I'm glad to see Linkin Park back, don't get me wrong, but for me it is like sealing it that Chester is gone, and it hurts, I relate to Chester a lot and just wish nothing ever happened and it would be him at these shows and on the album. And nobody will be able to put the amount of emotion and meaning into the songs as Chester. I dove DEEP into the rabbit hole of this topic between the last couple of days. Yes, she is/was a Scientologist and yes, she did (allegedly) support her friend Danny Masterson. I understand it's not a good look, and I was so bothered by everything I was learning about her. Hearing about the idea that she supports the very thing Chester fought so hard against. I also learned that a Scientologist cannot directly disavow the church of Scientology. They will make your life a living hell. Today I woke up with a different take on things. I've been listening to the song on repeat for the last hour or so. Every time I hear it, the lyrics almost suggest that she is (indirectly) cutting her ties with what she was indoctrinated into. Obviously, this isn't the Linkin Park that I grew up with. But at this point, I'm truly interested to see how this develops.
