We went to a Caracas, VZ theater to see THE LION. We were walking out, my mother noticed me crying and at that precise second I switched to sobbing. I recall how difficult it was for them to convince me "it is only a movie." The grief over make-believe dead lions nearly sent me to a hospital.

“What’s to become of her in this place, with nothing but primitives and animals as companions?” 1962, and in the opening credits the producers express their ‘deep gratitude’ to the people and governments of East Africa for their cooperation. I can only imagine how pleased they must have been with this description right near the beginning of the film.

Wlm. Holden loved Africa. He worked to maintain and restore it. In Kenya he started a club of sportsmen, actors and politicoes in order to foster awareness.

America often financed a lot of British movies, on the understanding that the lead role was to played by an American.

William Holden was renowned for his contribution to Kenyan wildlife and had a reserve on the slopes of Mount Kenya. The Mount Kenya Safari Club. A bit more than any British actor at the time. I can think of no one more appropriate.

Yes, this was produced U.S I'm not sure as to why certain up-loads KZbin. Allows as far as copyright availability legally. Would think that there is a kind of vetting in regards to do so. Beyond me and my legal knowledge. I do enjoy the films that are shared though. If they are presented in a decent format.
