I love how the scene with Rafiki talking to Mufasa basically boils down to them having a ship war

19:56 If you’re wondering why Zira looks like she’s smiling, the original storyboards went in a much darker direction. After Kiara offered to help Zira, Zira says “never”, and let’s go.

Yes- and another cut scene was just before Nuka died his last words are ‘I got your attention now didn’t I?’ It’s pretty dark but I can’t understand why it got cut.

This is definitely one of the better Disney direct-to-dvd sequels. I love how the first movie was based on Hamlet, so this one's based on Romeo and Juliet. Kiara and Kovu are great together, Zira's a great villain, and "My Lullaby" and "Not One Of Us" are bangers.

The fact the Simba's Pride went directly to video but the lion king 1¹/² was in cinemas 😞
@chuckrothans75356 ай бұрын
That's because simba pride along with all the other Disney animated sequels at the time were purposely made for direct to video to cash in on that market at the time during the late 90's and early 2000's. They did that to complete with rival studios at the time Warner bros and Universal studios. But the market for direct to video movies started to dying do to studios loosing money do to them loosing quality in story telling. Disney would eventually start to down size their own animated studio put their funding more into pixstar because computer animation was becoming popular and required less work to animated then traditional hand drawn animation. Leading to a lot of animators either having to learn how to use computer animation or they would have to find employment elsewhere. It's truly sad that this style of animation was basically discarded for CGI animation.
@jasonthayer13096 ай бұрын
They shouldn’t have even bothered. Universal was making terrible Land Before Time sequels and tarnishing Don Bluth’s legacy.
@chuckrothans75356 ай бұрын
@@jasonthayer1309 true but people were still buying them which showed their was a market for the direct to home video movies. An as long as there is a market for it, an rival studios choose to be in that market like universal studios and Warner bros. Then Disney will always choose to throw their hat in the ring. It's all about money at the end of the day. Even if it means making a bunch of trash 🗑 movies.

Usually in a lion pride, there’s only one adult male lion, and if you’re still young enough to have cubs, he will kick his cubs out who are males once they reach adulthood, and they create their own pride, and that one line is the father for the Cubs And if another lion comes in, kills the old lion of the pride. Then he kills all the cups cause he doesn’t want any cups. That’s father by another lion.

Just for context, one of the reasons he stated about familial relationship between Simba and Nala is why they stressed so heavily that is not scar so when he and Kiara got together, it wouldn’t be weird. I also love the fact that Shakespeare pairs so well with the Savannah, the original it was Hamlet and now in this one it’s Romeo and Juliet.

I’m glad you enjoyed one of Disney’s best sequels. In the Broadway musical, Mufasa sings “They Live In You” when teaching Simba about the Kings of the Past. When Adult Simba meets Rafiki years later and is visited by the spirit of Mufasa, they sing “He Lives In You” showing the lesson Simba is taught comes to a complete circle. If you did want do The Lion Guard but not all of it, I recommend the 3 specials (Return of the Roar, The Rise of Scar, and Battle for the Pride Lands) and S3 E10-19. 🦁👑✌️💛🧡❤️

There is a dark theory out there that vitani is nala's daughter. She got pregnant from scar but had the cub in secret and gave her to zira after simba came back. There are a few things in this film that point to it. 1. The way that when vitani is talking to nala, she keeps angrily referencing naka'a pretty daughter 2. They have the same eyes. They look so similar except for the dark brown(the same fur colour as scar) tuft on the end of her tail

I love the second one! my order of the movies from favorite to least is lion king2, lion king 1 1/2, lion king. I love all three and when I was 4 to around 6 the lion king was one of my favorite Disney movies that I watched on rotation constantly. in an actual pride there would only be one or two male lions and the others would be banished to make other prides- too many male lions messes up their breeding process and too many males creates jealousy within the prides, which is why the other males are kicked out. So, Disney only having 1-2 male lions in a pride in the lion king movies is accurate to real prides.
@drigerdranzer75143 ай бұрын
2 important scenes that never made it thru the final cut because Disney back then thought it will be too dark and send bad messages. First we have Nukas death scene. His real last words: “I’m sorry mother, I tried. I guess I finally got your attention, didn’t I, didn't I?” This makes Zira even more barbaric, in that she didn't take Nuka's last words to heart and realize that she'd just thrown away Nuka's life in her quest to get vengeance on Simba. He didn't hate Kovu for being the chosen one. He hated Kovu because he got all the attention from Zira, completely neglecting Nuka. Only in his last moment he finally got his mother's affection. The other scene is Ziras death. Many have wondered why she smile when falling to her death. After Kiara says "Zira come on! I'll help you!" Then Zira grins and with something between a menacing, evil whisper and a hissing she says "No! Never!" And then she let it go, falling down. Her death was a suicide. She was too loyal to Scar to accept any deal with "the enemy".
@jasonbrennan99186 ай бұрын
The animatic of Zira's death showered her very clearly jumping rather than falling and it kind of shows in the final animation, but it can be justified as, if her hindlegs were braced against the cliff when her forepaws slipped she'd sort of kick off in a similar way... Another interesting bit of trivia is that Vitani was originally supposed to be named Shetani, but they changed it. In the final battle, however, Nala accidentally refers to her by the wrong name. Again it could be an in-character mistake (or insult), but it is interesting...

@SorenAlba546 ай бұрын
First off, really Eric? Nala is an animal so watch yourself. Secondly, what I like about this film is that it highlights Simba’s time as a ruler who is trying to uphold the values and core beliefs of his people about respecting the balance of nature because he saw it with his own eyes the devastation his uncle has unleashed in their homeland when the void was filled by a false leader. In doing so, he worked so hard to regain everything that was lost during Scar’s reign that even now, it still haunts him. When Kiara and Kovu got together, it showed him that the actions of their forefathers don’t define who they are, but instead, it’s theirs and theirs alone. Ergo, only we can determine our own destiny since Kovu was able to change his when he refused to follow the path that Scar supposedly chose for him.

Lion prides only (usually) consist of one male [the king] and a pride of females. If the males are born, they fight for their place as king of the pride once reaching adolescence, usually after 2 years. Losers basically get banished from the pride and become rogue lions, and they set off to fight other lions and attenot to make their own pride. (Hence Kovu saying "start a pride all our own") even if it means stealing females; if not dethroning another male. Not to say rogue lionesses aren't a thing either, but they're more on the rare side. But the males long story short are rogues. They leave or get kicked out of the pride if they can't take it over themselves.. sometimes multiple males if brothers/cousins actually stick together and they form little cliques of bachelor lions lol Nala's father was a rogue lion, be it that he didn't successfully steal Sarafina (Nala's mother) away from the pride, but thats why Simba and Nala are not related.. Mufasa although the king at the time, was not Sarafina's mate. It was a "bachelor" rogue lion who probably attempted to start his own pride and failed. I think in some cases, once the cub from another male is born, I think male.lions would try to kill the cub.. but hey; Disney. 😂
