@@Suchwerewolf they were going to remove the song entirely, reportedly because of the imagery related to N*zi Germany and old ww2 newsreels that visually relate Scar's uprising to the rise of f*scist states. There was backlash when this decision was leaked to the general public, so they decided, after they were already mostly through production, to re-add the scene to the film, but they changed a lot of plot points around it that make it no longer make sense. Scar doesn't know the hyenas in the remake, so the, 'be prepared' scene is him *meeting* them. On top of the rushed production and rewrites, Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar's voice actor in the remake) is not a singer. Thus, the song is no longer a song, more like a spoken lyric poem with rythmic chanting in the background.

I wish they kept scars cut scene but made it less creepy so it makes sense why Nala would go to find help. Long story short, scar tries to make nala his queen to have kids and she rejects him, so he forcefully banishes her by calling out the hyenas, but it could’ve worked better if scar went for Simbas mom instead and she told nala to get help

I've read in articles that the reason that all the Moms in particular in those Classic movies die, is actually really depressing. 🤦♀️ Apparently Walt Disney had bought his parents a house, and his mother died inside from some gas leak. ... there's no other male lion for nala to be the child of, meaning at worst, Nala and Simba are half siblings, and less worse, they're cousins, if Scar is her dad- or Mufasa allowed Nala and her mother to join. Which is the only way for them to be unrelated
