The challenge is how to get the best deal. Contestants meet the dealers who offer cash for an item. The seller must decide whether to accept the guaranteed money or risk fortune or failure in the auction room. Of course, placing one's trust in a positive auction outcome is a gamble in itself! Will they make the right choice?

Nobody ever talks about the travel costs in going to the auction will that wipe out any profit at the auction

Do you think they take one item to auction at a time? No. I’m involved in auctions. These traders will take up to 30 items to an auction. Are you really this dumb??🤡

Depends on where you go..most city's have auctions so unless your lugging furniture it's a trip into town..or online

13:48 that bottle of liqueur isn’t so unusual. It was made by the Charles Jacquin company (despite its name, from the USA) and they bought rights to make Forbidden Fruit in 1937. From 1982, similar packaging was used for Chambord, which they sold to a bigger drinks company a few years ago. Bottles turn up on the internet quite regularly. Jacquin are still in business.

Not greedy but actually quite a calculated decision. Vintage alcohol can actually do really well in an acution often going above the market value. When the risk is £60, when this could have easily gone 3x plus, deffo take the gamble.

Commisions on sales for auction houses are perfectly acceptable, but charging a buyer 15% is crazh imo. Charge an entry fee, but come on!

15% is very low. Recent auctions I’ve been involved in charge 25 to 30%

Quince imo. The only forbidden fruit i can think of.

It used to be pretty popular as a cocktail ingredient from the 1890s up to it's discontinuation in the 70s. It's not made from quince, but grapefruit actually. The company that used to make this was bought out by the company that makes Chambord, and the bottle is the same bottle they used here, after discontinuing Forbidden Fruit they still manufactured the bottles, so they repurposed them for their new drink; Chambord. It's actually pretty sought after by some people who are into cocktails, because a lot of pre-1920s cocktail recipe books use it and there's no true reproduciton on the market currently, though there are other grapefruit liqueurs. I'm not sure how it holds up to age though lol.
