Saw this episode on TV, I'm surprised that Kafele wasn't disqualified for his use of "sequel" to get the answer of "prequel" because I thought the rule was you can't use part of the word to get your teammates to say the word.

It's only if it's a compound word. Like you can't use "ball" to describe "baseball helmet" because the word is basically "base-ball helmet." "quel" is a suffix.

Compression means increase in density or change in volume. Pressure is a force applied on the surface. They aren't the same uses of the word "press." She also could have said "depress" and it wouldn't have buzzed her even though "compress" uses the same suffix.

@@johnsmi213 The reason “pressure” did not get buzzed for “compress” is because the word is pronounced “PRESH-ure”, not “PRESS-ure.” She would have gotten buzzed if she used “depress.” Side note: they actually brought a contestant back again because on her first show, she was incorrectly buzzed for using “magic” to describe “magician”. The more you know🌈

Sequel should have been buzzed. I remember a few episodes back someone said duper so that the guess is super and it was buzzed , the explanation being that rhyming words are not allowed. Sequel and prequel rhyme too.

You can't use a rhyming word simply because it rhymes. You can't say "rhymes with mot pog" to get them to say "hot dog." Prequel and sequel are not the same word; they just have the same suffix.

This is wrong. In that episode, it was buzzed because Jaleel expressly said "rhymes with duper". There was an episode where someone said "not millionaire" for "billionaire". It would be dumb to ban clues that rhyme with the word, unless the player expressly says that it's a rhyme.

They arrange it so that the one who can win if they got all answers right then there would be impossible for the next person to win or tie the game would essentially be over. The leader goes first if the point total if they got everything right would be less than the opponent’s maximum possible points.
