Since you dove into CartoonMania and Doodletoons, I'd suggest you dig into the dumpster fire that is Band Davion, created by Darren Nichols of Rodfellows infamy. From one look, the artstyle looks like a massive step-up, but as you watch, you can obviously tell that Darren hasn't learned from that dumpster fire he a calls a cartoon. Especially since he STILL is open about inflation.

I remember seeing Navel and Confectionery Seed a lot when I was younger but I never really checked out the series for myself. The only episode I remember watching is one where it takes a jab at Mr. Enter fans. I never really checked out the rest of the series or even acknowledged it again until now.

Ngl out of all the webtoons that have existed thought the years, DoodleToons was always one I heard in passing but never grabbed my interest at all and honestly looking at the show that is for good reason. While the show in concept doesn’t sound bad, nothing of substance really comes out of it. The gags are samey and really repetitive and it comes off as a cheap imitation. No wonder Jack abandoned it. As always to both Kathy and Bracket, you did a great review as always and you really highlighted the negatives the show had

Doodle Toons, much like Mugman and Cartoonmania, was a cartoon that could really only be enjoyed in the moment. Kinda sad this is a fate most webseries seem to have, though that may speak volumes about how direct their influences are. It's also sad how of the three, Doodle Toons had the least potential to be truly great.

​As much as I adore Doodle Toons and a few of Lenstar's cartoons (Pike's Lagoon and some of his Loose Ends/Mugman stuff), I can see why they don't hold up like most of the other comedic indie cartoons like BFDI and Ollie and Scoops. Probably it's due to the Hanna-Barbera/Looney Tunes style of humor, which only worked well with Ren and Stimpy and Xilam shows to many people.

Then again, I did move on and watched BFDI a bit more recently, since the show did get way better in both BFB and TPOT. I will admit the first three seasons are still great, but the recent ones were a big improvement.

I remember back in 2016, I was a huge fan of Jack's art and characters (I even remember being really excited when he retweeted some fanart I did of Bellybutton). I never really cared for or watched the animations tho. I only ones I could kinda recall were the clock one, the jinx one, and the final completed one. I think the last time I cared for his stuff was in 2018 or 2019.

I understand this is ur opinion, but im sorry, this whole review is kinda stupid. U realize this was a webtoon made by a teenager who was just figuring out how to draw on a computer for the first time? It’s like judging a Newgrounds cartoon from the mid-2000s done by Flash and Windows Movie Maker. The quality isn’t gonna be top-notch like it’s some 5-star restaurant. CartoonLover98 even realizes this.

When I first viewed the video, it had prompted me to quit animating altogether because I was too worried that I'd end up being a "Looney Tunes knock-off" without watching the video thorough, listening closely to what you two stated. That's not really the case when I gave this a second chance, and I can now see why. I did actually like Doodle Toons when I first watched it in 2017. I barely watched the webtoon in a long time when the creator privated his episodes. Watching them now, it feels eerily similar to other cartoons I love, and needed more originality to it. Not 100% original with no inspirations, just not retreading old territory by shoehorning slapstick and funny faces every time. The show did have its moments, not gonna lie. and _some_ funny faces did give me a good chuckle, but I feel that it's pretty much the same schtick over and over again. Ringo may prolly be the best character in the series. I actually see the memorability and potential to be a funny character - better in the animatic of an episode he scrapped, and his jokes did actually make me laugh. The show also feels inconsistent with its art direction, reflecting on it. It's a good thing to be inspired by animation studios like Hanna-Barbera, UPA and what have you, but just copying jokes and replicating said art-style in a show he created feels like a Looney Tunes knock-off in itself. Doodle Toons _may_ have some potential, but unfortunately it ended up being a show that could've been a *lot* more better. Just feels... wasted. The fact I'd place this above Greeny Phatom and The Rodfellows is really something. I hate to admit that the webshow actually inspired me to get working on a potential new webtoon "Three Colours a Crowd", but looking back on Doodle Toons not being aged well felt like a slap in a face to me. However, after a second watch of this video, I'd rather not give up on animation in general. If anything, I feel that I made the right decision not to give up on animating. For now, I'd pretty much reboot the show, but as a webcomic first. You and Bracket honestly did a spiffing job on covering the webtoon.

You got a point. Even tho I still enjoy Doodle Toons and its animation style, looking back at it now... it's not as hilarious as I thought it would be. I understand Jack wanted the series to be similar to two cartoons I know, Oggy and the Cockroaches and The Ren and Stimpy Show, in which both have the classic Looney Tunes/early Hanna-Barbera vibe. But those cartoons at least tries to embrace the gags and not overfilled them. (This is what I also had a problem with most of Lenstar's cartoons as well). I would recommend the two Mr. JB shorts, "Chicken Jog" and "Guard Duty Doggy", as well as Vincent Alexander's cartoons, for way better slapstick humor.

Honestly, looking back on Doodle Toons, this was just a mediocre Looney Tunes knockoff with jerky animation and poor writing. While this brought me to other people's cartoons at the time like Mugman (which in turn also introduced me to Jacob Lenard's work), there have been better cartoons made by other creators before and after this came out. I can also say that the cartoons that used the UPA Revival/Hanna Barbera meets UPA style like Dexter's Lab and Powerpuff Girls did a lot better at replicating these styles than the animation in Fast Food Follies. This cartoon is honestly one of those that aged like milk especially with the shorts having to do with the Animated Atrocities Guy's fandom (since Enterbots are more or less a subspecies of Toonheads and have become more and more of an endangered subspecies as time went on) and Knockoff Butch Hartman Style Guy. I've seen way worse but way better at the same time when it comes to Online Animation made by smaller names who don't get the attention of a Homestar Runner, a Happy Tree Friends, or a Helluva Hazbin, even some object shows can be better too, even if a lot of them are seemingly cliché and are derivatives of the shows that spawned them like BFDI or Inanimate Insanity. This is still better than shit like Baby Lamb and Friends, Object Terror, Greeny Phatom, and especially Rodfellows because I'll take a Looney Tunes knockoff over SML for babies, an edgelord's version of an object show, an MS Paint show that panders to logo kids, and especially a shitty unoriginal furry cartoon made by Woody Allen butt-loving pedophiles. This is a cartoon full of wasted potential and it honestly could pass off (like Bracket said) as a cartoon in the background you aren't supposed to pay attention to within the cartoon you're already watching, to say the least...

Great vid ya peeps! TBH, I haven’t seen DoodleToons in a looong while, nor seen much of the extra content. But after seeing this, it’s honestly safe to say that I wasn’t missing much. Really a shame, since again this show had potential but unfortunately it just turned out to be stale and bland. Glad to see Jack is improving his stuff (to an extent). Albeit his recent style(s) is pretty divisive.

Seems like false equivalence to me, and it doesn't make much sense with this short contextually 'cuz it's not like he used that stuff to get others to love him like what Goldie did in the short. Granted, if that were why that'd be horrific. Since that's an action Jack himself strongly regrets and we didn't want to reignite more drama against him, it's probably not the best thing to mention here. That may have been an ugly part of his history and we don't defend it, but the Internet is bound to react in the most violent way possible despite how long ago this was.

I’ve had to say, this is the amazing review/rant on Doodle Toons, because why? Well, the animation does look like it was drawn by a 3 year old, and the jokes were kinda cliché, boring, bland, and dual. The characters in this web show weren’t that interesting to me, they’re just mean spirited, and nasty characters. I find the crossover with Mugman (Not Mugman from Cuphead) to be absolutely sh*t, I've say The Simpsons crossover with Family Guy are better than Doodle Toons.

Much like Cartoonmania, I used to like this series but I stop caring for it. The characters aren’t that likable, the cartoon style isn’t that appealing, though it is kinda cute, the animation is cheesy and fast pasted, and is just a Looney Tunes wannabe. Plus, I feel like it has too much slapstick, though as I said, I like slapstick cartoons, but not one’s where the slapstick is overused. And should I say that Jack had too much free time when it comes to his YTPs? Anyway, to anyone who likes this series and still does, good for you.

To me, the slapstick gags aren’t the problem. Rather, it’s everything else. The animation and overall art style just doesn’t work with slapstick most of the time, Half of the humor is wacky faces, and its pacing also ruins it.

As someone who grew up with CartoonLover98, his YTPs, Doodletoons, and his DA work, Doodletoons is a lot more worse than I remember, and I remember the fans of Doodletoons were divisive over the redesign of the main cast, [ With the exception of Goldie and Pip, giving they look so wrong]. And it's a shame too, I used to love this series during my kid/early teen years.
