the bells also warded off predetors, alerted a town of your arival, and was a show of wealth for some. many cultures put bells everywhere for many reasons

@@stuff50467 What predators in the North woods are scared off by Jingle bells? Fights to the death were so common in Viking society, I doubt they wanted to alert anyone of their arrival. When the topic is "use of bells to ward off evil spirits," other uses of bells are irrelevant.
