The original story of The Little Mermaid story book is made by Tom Christian Anderson, and it been on public domain way before Disney Make The Little Mermaid animated movie. In the original, the female mermaid fell in love with a prince, she ask the sea witch to turn her into a human being. But she found out that the prince is married to a princess. So she felt so sad and depressed, she decided to end her own life by committing suicide and died. That was a really sad part of the story. This is why Disney make it into a none sad animated movie for kids, because there always a happy ending and having everything hearts felt with joy.
