Another wonderful video, of course! I adore the outtakes! You sense of humor, as well as your love for your clothes is infectious! My go-to blazer, very sadly, had to be retired forever last year. It was brown tweed with leather elbow patches. My mom and I had patched the lining, changed out the buttons and made every possible repair. I wore it with the sleeves rolled up and truly loved it. It finally, after 20 years, just disintegrated. I am so lost.

Wonderful jackets, Marie-Anne. It's just lovely to see such well made clothing in good fabrics. It's easy to forget what quality looks like with so much 'instant' clothing about these days. My favourite jacket is made of moss green Donegal tweed, with a dark brown fleck. It's got small dark brown leather buttons, and a little flap at the back. My father bought the fabric for me, and had his tailor make the jacket. The tailor was an old man, and very skillful. The jacket fitted perfectly. That was forty years ago. I still have it, it's still perfect, and when I wear it I think of my lovely father, and the gifted old gentleman who made my jacket. Merci beaucoup, Marie-Anne, for your lovely video. :)

I have a navy blue trench that I bought in the 80's & it was worth every penny ($100). It even has a zip in liner which helps transition with the seasons. I add a scarf for color. I like all your jackets. Thank you for sharing.

I bought my favourite jacket from a thieves market in Mexico for the equivalent of U.S.$6. It is black, has a secret bright floral lining and is nipped in at the waist - very flattering. I wear it on only the coldest winter days here in Sydney. I love the look of the stylish jackets that you feature on your channel but in this climate, a lightweight, long-sleeved shirt worn open over a t-shirt is the closest I would come to wearing one for most of the year.

Marie Anne, You opened my eyes as to why I LOVE two of my jackets for my rectangle petite figure. Both are navy blue, ( one navy/white small pin striped), beautifully pieced together sleeves and fitted. One has beautiful lining with pale blue/white stripes which I can turn up the sleeves. The other has tucking at the shoulder? with cuffed sleeves for a 3/4 sleeve. The devil is in the details. Thank you for reminding me to really LOOK at clothes with a discerning eye. This was FUN!

I like classic styles but I like to find them in unusual colors. My trench coat, for example, has all the classic details but it is aubergine instead of the usual tan. It works as a neutral, goes with every color and works better as a more dressy, evening coat than the tan. It might be an unusual color but I've never regretted the purchase.

Marie Anne, I live int the tropics in the north east of Australia. The clothes you suggest for summer would be what I would wear in Our dry/winter season. How can I remain stylish and cool in our wet/summer season. It is so hot & humid that even wearing accessories like scarves or jewellery is too hot.

I have a picture of my brother and I on our first day of school. We're in our driveway, metal lunch boxes in one hand and we're both wearing blazers -- navy with white piping, and we're waving to our Mom. After a long search, I finally found one like it. I love the feel of it. It's navy and has blue and white piping around the collar and down the front, along the bottom and the cuffs and trimming the two front pockets. I'm happy with it. It's really special to visualize something you would like and then to find it.

I loved all of your jackets! The blue from Banana Republic and the green one are my favorites! I would leave the buttons to the tweed jacket but I would change the stitching to a gorgeous burgundy. I am a rectangle too and some days ago I went to Zara looking for a trench coat for my trip to Europe in October but despite the ones I found were Ok...that was the point, they were Ok and I never choose anything like that. Besides that the coats had no belts so they made me look like a bag of potatoes despite Im tall and slim. So my search still goes on! I’m still thinking about your green jacket, so beautiful like a walk in a forest on a autumnal afternoon! Have a wonderful weekend!

Love this video - you really show how to focus in on a piece of clothing and appreciate all the small details. The more we do that the more we will appreciate our clothing and care for it. I love jackets, and coats especially. I like long coats, down to my ankles or at least mid-calf. I have a few this length, they are different weights. The advantage of a long, lightweight coat, is that it is a good windbreaker for the whole body.

I have a grey blazer. It’s jersey but the collar is satin. I live in a hot climate so the cotton jersey breaths but the satin collar on the blazer makes its chic and feminine and not frumpy. I got it at Gap years ago! But I take such good care for it.

Just been checking one of my blazers I recently purchased, lining is unusual, rim of pockets are dark blue velvet and with buttons on the sleeve, one of the buttons has different stitching to the other buttons. This is such a lovely blazer. I really like all your blazers. Very unusual.

I often switch out buttons! There is a very wonderful button shop here in New York, and I’ve even replaced buttons on inexpensive suits to really improve the wearability of the suit.

I love your passion, you have inspired me to really appreciate my clothes. Buttons do make or break an outfit so maybe considering a change of buttons for your jackets could be an alternative? However I do like the idea of burgundy stitching. I have jackets which are a few years old now one of which is a Ralph Lauren tweed which I have always loved because of its cut, fit and quality.x

Great video - we have such similar taste. I got my sense of style from my mother, who would inspect and appreciate all of the details on a piece of clothing, just as you do. I didn’t know it at the time, but I absorbed all of that knowledge and love of style that has served me so well as an adult. My uncles owned a large clothing company, very well known throughout the U.S. in the 60’s and 70’s, and, as a child, family conversation would often be about cut, color, fabric, style. Your videos are such a joy to watch!

Hello Marie-Anne, interesting video, I enjoy listening to your enthusiasm, makes my day. I have a few interesting jackets, and I always like to change the buttons as a rule. Many jackets on the high street are well made but the buttons can let them down. I once bought a scarlet blazer but it had plastic tortoiseshell buttons bordering on black, I really didn't like them, so I replaced them all with plain gold buttons and the same for the cuffs, two sizes down from the body buttons. It now looks almost like a Balmain jacket (not that I ever care about labels, because I like to 'copy' styles, but would never dream of dishing out ridiculous amounts of money). I also have a royal blue jacket, the colour Princess Diana used to wear, which brought out the startling blue of her eyes. The buttons were plastic, dark and boring.....I scoured the internet and found some gold shank buttons reminiscent of Versace 🤭 Now the jacket looks high end and individual and I paid very little for it 😁 I bought, what I thought I would never buy again at my age, a denim jacket BUT this denim jacket was dark blue, with slight stretch for comfort, in the style of a blazer with raw hip length edging AND fuschia pink stitching! This set it apart from most denim jackets and looks classy (a term I wouldn't normally use for this type of fabric in a jacket)....I LOVE it....and guess what? I bought it for FOUR POUNDS in the sale 😲💕 I always hunt around for bargains, I see quality as, good cut, good fabric and good stitching (a tip from Gok Wan).....I feel SO smug when I snap up a nice piece for the price of a sandwich 🤭😁😂💕

Bonjour, I just purchased the Silhouette Modular Top pattern, which is a knit boat neck long sleeve tee with French darts and snaps on the sleeves. I thought the addition of snaps was a nice touch to what is otherwise an understated classic piece. Can be made in a nice ponte roma knit. I'll probably replace the snaps with buttons and put the buttons on only one shoulder/sleeve instead of both for a more asymmetrical look. This kind of garment is another "win" for jazzing up an otherwise "regular" all-purpose garment. Not sure when I'll wear it since I have six months to go on my one-dress wearing thing. LOL. Love your videos!

I would not change anything about the tweed jacket as the collar and sleeve has enough uniqueness combined w. the surprise lining. The checked jacket does need something special to make it more interesting. The burgundy button would be great, but what about also a burgundy lining in the sleeve, so it can be turned up. A tailor would not have to replace the entire sleeve. When you show the green jacket: I love finding shirts with that kind of sleeve with the extra piece as it is a more expensive touch and the sleeve falls better. Love your videos!

I love the look of a jacket. It dresses up and pulls together any outfit, even jeans. Details make all the difference. I hate to see cheap buttons on a nice jacket. I have to change them. Quality jackets last forever. I have a petite hourglass shape. I wear fitted blazers mostly. All your jackets are gorgeous!

I recently thrifted a tweed jacket. No inside pocket, but contrasting muted olive notch collar goes perfectly with a long skirt I have of the same colour. Love the jackets Marie-Anne, favourites of mine too. The green one has a lot of detailing with the leaves and beads, it's really difficult to guess at whether removal would improve it or not, maybe just a few beads less would do it, as you can always put them back. I customised bought clothes, not always and only if it will enhance the original. I make some of my clothes too, jackets at the moment are my desire, but also buy if it's a particular design. I have my eye on a Chanel-type style black one. These things stay with me forever and get altered accordingly. Lovely video.

So glad I found this video, because I'm going to need a new blazer for fall/winter! My favorite blazer is now far too big, and I don't think the tailor will be able to alter it. I have one jacket that I purchased online, a designer piece that I picked up second hand. I love the fit of the jacket and the look, but am not thrilled with the buttons. They're just plastic. We have a shop not far from here that caters to dressmakers and women who are experts at sewing with fine fabrics and finishings. I'm going to take a couple of the buttons in there and select elevated buttons in the same size. I may do the same with a couple of my cardigans. These folks have buttons that cost ten or twelve dollars EACH, and sometimes more. But they also have some elegant styles that are a little less expensive. One of the many things I have learned from you is to pay attention to those little details. I'll be looking for them as well on my winter blazer. :)

I really love all my jackets or I wouldn't have them. My white wool blazer has so many special details including an absolutely lovely lining. My lambskin blazer and my little lambskin jacket that hangs just a bit below the waist are quite special. The heavier dark gray wool blazer has a gorgeous structure and most of the details are quite nice but I really need to change the buttons. I don't care for the ones it came with.

One thing that you mentioned was perhaps changing buttons. I always changed the buttons on sweaters, jackets and blouses. I loved buttons and used to search the Paris flea markets for antique buttons. I also love piping around jackets like your Banana Republic jacket. I enjoy watching your videos.

Marie-Anne Lecoeur My husbands background was European. He took me to Paris in 1987 and we continued to make almost yearly trips there to celebrate our birthdays (a week apart) or our anniversary. Sometimes we would just wander neighborhoods, picnic in parks,Paris open tennis, talk to people. Unfortunately he died on our 36 th anniversary but I made 5 more trips there. I went to our favorite picnic spot in Paris to spread his ashes in the Seine. I hope I can make one more trip there in the near future.

Every detail including the lining are so important. I think I'll change the buttons on my gray wool blazer, I don't really care for the buttons it has. I found some t-shirts with a hemline that looks especially good on me so I bought several so I won't wear them out too quickly and find myself unable to get more. I have a few silk camisoles with lovely details at the top. They are really beautiful under a blazer for evening wear or special occasions. Structure is at least equally important. I'm too thin and rely on the structure of my clothing for shape.

I love all the jackets you showed, but my favorite is your green tweed one...in part for all the unique touches: the stitching, the appliqued leaves, and the beads. I decided to inventory my fall clothing by type, and I was shocked! I t-h-o-u-g-h-t I was jacket "poor", but I had more jackets than any other type of clothing. I added four jackets for fall before I realized I had so many: a rust tweed one, a teal one, a print wool paisley boho one, and the most gorgeous orange-red suede one...all found inexpensively on Ebay. (I do already have basic ones in black, grey, navy and camel.) I now feel ready for fall!!!

It’s very easy to add a running stitch like on your green tweed. I once added white stitching to a plain navy blazer. I love to use odd buttons, usually all one colour, and contrasting thread to sew them on. Contrasting lining is utterly delicious.

I didn’t have too many jackets and now I am getting a few more because you have shown how they really elevate an outfit. My favorite jacket is a red houndstooth with a simple white lining. The collar is a shawl style; it tapers at the waist and it has these beautiful large red buttons. I get compliments whenever I wear it. I am going to start paying attention to the details. I have a beige linen jacket that has golden matte piping. The detail I like is there is gold thread stitches on the inner edge as well.The jacket is by Kenar.

Re-watching this video because my nan bought me a jacket similar to the third one you showed (the checked one with the leather piping). I'd seen it in the Boxing Day sale and couldn't get it... it's a small check with different colours (beige, black, teal, rust-red and a dark yellow) and has beautiful corduroy detailing around the sleeve buttons, pockets and under the collar, and I can wear it with so many things. (I'm also trying to find the video where you style that particular jacket of yours to watch again for some more ideas!) It's the first jacket I've had that wasn't bought as part of a school uniform or interview suit and I'm looking forward to wearing it in many different ways in the years to come!

Hi, Marie-Anne. Love the classic trench coat. I finally got a Sam Edelman trench last week! It has all the details except the epaulets ... alas! But I will get a lot of use from it. Texas weather is so changeable! Love love love your green jacket with the lighter green stitched details! Please don't remove the leaves; that's just one of the details that makes it so special! Love your tweed jackets, as well as the fact that all your jackets are cut to create a waist. That's one detail I look for now, thanks to you!😊 I have a Ralph Lauren brown plaid fitted jacket that adds just the right finishing touch to jeans & casual skirts. Love the Banana Republic blazer. I have a fabulous one from BR in green velvet, similar in tone to your green jacket. The piping and inside pocket detail are in striped necktie fabric, and sleeves lined in fuschia. BR does great jackets. Their raincoats are excellent too.

@@MarieAnneLecoeur I really like how open you are to constructive criticism. The sound tent has made a vast improvement on the audio it's definitely palpable if you watch one of the older videos right after a new one. I think the lapel mic is kind of restricting you in terms of movement and it rubs and creates noise and the sound is bit loud albeit clear. Maybe try a boom (like a mic that hangs above you) or actually I've seen some people attaching it to the back of their waistband. Anyhow it's definitely nothing big and I'm loving the quality just something minor that can be improved😊

I just bought a trench coat from Everlane that is very similar to yours although it wasn’t very expensive. I can tell by the buttons but at least a lot of the detailing is the same. I got a classic gray plaid blazer but I may need to get the solid gray one too:)
