@@Todd_G_FPV the Vtol side of things or the Walsknail setup? I'm happy to help with either.
@Todd_G_FPV22 күн бұрын
@Crunklefloop the vtol setup, I had originally purchased a t1 pro pnp with vtol upgrade as a side kit so I asked the seller if anything was needed to make it work as a vtol and they said get the sparrow v2 pro fc so I ordered that from them and come to find out it doesn't work for vtol's just planes for rth and stability so I messaged them again and they wanted me to buy a sn fast controller for it for like 90$ so I asked about the return policy on the other v2 and they ignored me every time so I decided to buy thru heewing directly, and got the vtol pnp ready to go minus receiver and vtx and im going to send everything back to that seller once it gets here lol but my thing is, how does the elrs hook up, is it pwm or sbus? I went ahead and got both kinds of elrs and a dji vista of some sort to throw in it. Super excited to get it up in the air! Once I get to open it on Christmas that is lol. I figured it'd be simpler this way and it was cheaper than buying everything individually. Only 270 for the vtol pnp vs 290 for the kit I ordered first and the 125 he tries to get me for the 2 controllerz lol I may keep the v2 pro for a future wing build since it has a gps and rth function!

Beautiful The sat count would jumped around a lot, sometimes from 9 straight to 18. Never see that here, is it normal?

Yeah it seems to do that for some reason, possibly interference. It never loses GPS fix though and ended up on 27 sats by the end of the flight.

Wow. Fantastic flight. I'm really surprised it can still cruise at 3.5A with all the extra hardware onboard for VTOL. That's about my amp draw on my non-VTOL T1 on 1407 motors. Are these the 1806 VTOL kit motors?
@Crunklefloop Жыл бұрын
Thanks Jacob, she's very efficient indeed. I've even had cruise down to less than 3amps in still conditions. I'm using T-Motor F2004 1700kv motors with 5X3 bi-blade props. I'm also using 4S, so the bear in mind that the amp draw will be lower than 3S, if that's what you're running.

@@Crunklefloop Thanks for that info. I have a spare T1 kit that I'm planning to VTOL (I bought a different VTOL kit designed by a guy) and was planning to use the same 4S/1407 as I have on my normal one, but I think I might jump up to something bigger like you're running based on your numbers. @@emperorkalel Ahh I see - it depends how much gear you already have, if I was building the setup I have here from scratch I would guess this would have cost around £1000-£1300GBP. I'm not sure what your experience level is with FPV setups etc however I wouldn't recommend straight to building and setting up a VTOL as a first build though. @@Crunklefloop Absolutely amazing that you've managed to fly that far out and back with just a 1800mAh LiPo. And with VTOL take-off and landing to boot! Did you use any 'tricks' like taking advantage of different air currents at different altitudes to always have tailwind and save energy? Also, why a LiPo? Given the pretty small current draw displayed on the OSD, a Li-Ion pack wouldn't have enough CDR and a better capacity-to-weight rating? (sorry if any of these are stupid questions, I'm just a total beginner trying to learn from you pros)

Q VTOL approach 7kms out?...that you or a glitch?....lol....🤔😏😏🇬🇧
@Crunklefloop Жыл бұрын
It's a bit of a misnomer, I use the Quadplane-Return to launch setting (QRTL) which will fly back to the launch site in plane mode then transition to VTOL mode around 80m from the landing site and then action an autoland. For some reason this displays as Q-VTOL approach when first actioned but if you look at the amp draw it's not actually transitioning at all, the amps are actually dropping as the plane decends to the pre-set RTL altitude of 100m then throttles up to cruise again.

Super flight. Mine is finished just waiting for a slightly less windy day to maidens and get tuned. Had it hovering in the garden and all is looking good. Can I ask, did you change the cg point after adding the vtol necels, or are you still aiming for the front of the clippy handle bit on the canopy?
@Crunklefloop Жыл бұрын
Good luck with the maiden. I've kept the stock C.G although I have made a screw latch for the canopy rather than the hook system, so I set the CG from marks I've made under the wings. Also one thing to be mindful of is when you set your C.G don't forget to position the motors in the forward flight postion otherwise if you set C.G with the motors up it will become nose heavy when transitioning to plane mode.

For beginners and fpv, how would you compare it against the zohd drift?
@Crunklefloop Жыл бұрын
The drift is a great plane and easy to fly but has very limited space inside. This limits your battery options and makes installing FPV gear tricky. It's also not the best in anything other than very light winds. Having owned both I would recommend the T1 over the drift in almost all FPV scenarios other than if you wanted to glide thermals on a calm day.
