I used to always cry as a kid when the outro played, hoping that he'd find a lovely family to take him in. Now watching this clip today i understand that he was content being alone. Hobo was just happy helping people that he came in contact with in his travels. He enjoyed his own company and freedom. It's not to say I still don't bawl my eyes out when I hear this theme song!!!

Loved the show. Worked on it while they were filming around Uxbridge, Ontario. Got to know some of the cast and crew, and of course the dogs.I believe there were 4 and they had their own specialties depending on the show and what the Educator/Trainer (Charles) wanted them to do. The intro/extro are my all time favorite TV themes. If it puts a smile and brings a tear to your eye, try installing it as a ringtone of your cellphone. I guarantee that through out the day you will smile when someone calls you.

I was born in 94, so sadly this was off the air by my time, but I grew up hearing about the show on and off again from my mom who watched the original and the 80's reboot, and I was so sad I could never watch it. Years go by and eventually Hudson & Rex comes along and becomes a major hit and my personal favourite, watching it with my mom and hearing about Hobo more, again wishing I could have seen it. Jump forward again to now, late February-early March 2024, my mom stumbles across a channel that's airing the 80's show every morning- first time she's seen it on tv in decades, so she sets a series recording on the PVR. I've been watching it with her and I'm so happy I can finally watch this Canadian masterpiece! It's every bit as amazing as my mom made it out to be and then some. The fact that nobody's greenlit another reboot for it amid Rex's success is a dying shame- there's always room for more dog shows on tv! Rex and Hobo could be timeslot neighbours!

Based on the comments I've been reading, this series was watched in many countries. I remember watching it dubbed in Spanish as a child in Nicaragua, before immigrating to the US in my teens. I felt bad for the dog because he was always on the move and never had a home. The series was successful in instilling a love for dogs in many kids, including me. This poignant and catchy song unlocks a treasure trove of happy childhood memories.

Sharnjit my sister I agree with everything you’ve stated including what you said about our sweetest and beloved London…. What a classic show with emotional episodes…. I’ve never, ever forgotten it or the way the theme tune and the show itself effected me even to this present day on Thursday the 30th of December 2021 while I’m 45 years old now…. The nostalgia provoking and absolutely beautiful melody accompanying the well written and excellently produced song along with the thought provoking lyrics contained within the song itself too is something I’ll carry within my heart for eternity and beyond…….. I have brought The Littlest Hobo up to people over the years for about 23 years in total now since 1998 after they sadly cancelled showing any reruns of The Littlest Hobo on TV within the UK including the city of London to keep the theme tune, London (the German Shepherd) and the show itself within people’s psyche so they never ever forget it and can pass the (LEGEND) of The Littlest Hobo on down to the new generation and themselves can pass it on down to their children’s, children’s children…….. I’ve always sung the entire theme song word for word thankfully remembering every single lyric which I’m very proud of myself for doing to work colleges and friends over the years for almost 25 years reminding them of the show to faithfully bring back happy memories within the good old days for them and (THEY’VE ABSOLUTELY LOVED ME) for it!!…. “Until tomorrow the whole world is my home….” The last bit of footage with the silhouette of London sitting down as he looks over the river towards the setting of the beautiful sun with thoughts on his mind with the melodic ending chords of the outro version of the song playing out the show for the last time in a single chord gets me every single time Sharnijt…… I’m crying…. It reminds me of times in my long gone childhood that I miss with all of my aching heart…. I see a lot of myself in London the beautiful German Shepherd…. Never really finding a place of my own and never really being accepted by various soulmates too who loved having me around but couldn’t commit to me so I had to move on and bring joy to another woman’s life like another long lost sister before I had to move on again and so the circle continues…. I love London and miss him, the show and those times terribly……. I have tears streaming down my face now……..

I took in a stray dog when she was a year and half old. I used to make fun that she was a hobo moving town to town stopping crime before she found me. I will always remember her when this song plays. How the hell is cutting onions right now?!?

We only got like, 2 channels growing up with the rabbit ears; CBC and our local station. (occasionally ABC on a clear day.) This was on every Sunday on the local channel. All the feels.

there was another fantastic old Canadian show that I loved as a kid. I can play the intro song in my head but can never remember the name of the show. I gaslighted myself for ages thinking I had just imagined it, but somehow remembered the name and found the intro on YT years ago. But now I have forgotten it again. It had a big shot of logs rolling down a river in the traditional way, and the people in the show lived in the bush and did logging stuff, and many were quite gruff but loveable. Gee I loved the characters on that show and would love to see it again, so I could know who the actors were and the real life location where they filmed. Do you know the show I am talking of, by any chance? I'm Australian so I am hoping a Canadian around my age will know what I am talking about. thanks in advance for any info

Another memory from the past. I'll be honest and say I NEVER actually WATCHED it but it was one of those shows I was 'aware of' at the time. In particular, it's the theme tune that I remember the most. For some reason this song always made me feel sad listening to it, but I could never work out why. 🤔 Did anyone else feel that way?

I'd not heard this in a long long time. I loved this series as a kid and of course the dog. I cried at the end of every single episode, when this song came on and Hobo was moving on to his next adventure, despite the offer of a home. When the dog looked back at the people he'd helped and then went on his way, I felt like he was leaving me. I can't listen to this song without crying. I bought the first series last week and despite now being an adult, I still cry at the end. Oh the memories.....I love it.

Back in 2010-I was 23-I randomly turned on the tv and The littlest hobo was on and I instantly fell in love with it. It was just a well-produced, relaxing, wholesome show. There's just something nice about someone drifting in and out helping and figuring things out. I still have my favourite episodes. I loved the original (1979) enging, it just seemed more illistrative of travel with London strolling down a busy sidewalk, jogging through a forrest. I liked how the camera pulled out as he walked along in the final scene.

I am crying right now with all the memories flooding back. The old shows are by far better than the current ones. They speak to us of our childhood now gone for good

The sweetest theme song ever!! I just reminded my daughters that I had shown them this show at age 8-9 because I had watched it every day after skool in the 70s. Such an unbelievably Good Boi!! :-)

This is the definition of bittersweet! Healthy, content looking dog, mixed with positive memories of a child, but also sadness of an innocent time I can't return to, the fact that this dog is homeless and that even if he had an extremely long life, he will be long time dead now. The song just in itself, sounds very bittersweet. Hope that dog had a long and happy life.
@marnanel2 жыл бұрын
Good news, then: he did have a long and happy life, and by the last few series the dogs playing the Hobo were the grandchildren of the original dog (whose name was London). There are plenty of his descendants still around.
