@cirrus87912 жыл бұрын
How has the X351 been for running costs/reliability?
@Prototheria2 жыл бұрын
@@cirrus8791 Not bad at all. We're in the US and it's a 2016 L Portfolio, which means the 3.0L V6, 8HP70 tranny, and AWD. We bought it as a CPO with 11k miles and it currently has 62k. We recently did a tranny flush/fill/filter and at 28k, it needed a set of front brakes. My wife drives it mostly and she uses the hell out of the adaptive cruise, which is why I think the front brakes had to be addressed so soon. Otherwise has just been gas, oil, a battery, and tires. Now that it's out of warranty, I turn all the wrenches on it and I've found OEM parts to be roughly the same as what you'd expect at a Toyota dealer. Mechanically, the car isn't hard to work on, but it requires a bit more finesse than something from Japan or America. My biggest gripe is the lack of engine braking and I attribute this to the 8HP. My XKR has the 6HP28 with the 5.0L engine and if you're looking two steps ahead in traffic, you barely need the brakes. Then again, people around here drive like pussies. Anyway... No engine braking. You might counter with the extra weight and the smaller engine being a contributing factor, but I disagree, since I've driven a friend's XF-RS with the same 5.0L V8 as my XKR mated to the same 8HP as my XJL. It demonstrates the same lack of engine braking that the XJL does. Otherwise, the 8HP is seamless. It's so good, you don't even notice it. The 6HP is great as well, but you do notice the shifts a bit more. Jag has come a long way from the days of the British Leyland piles of garbage and as much as I hate to say it, Ford deserves credit for pulling them from the gutter. If you're considering one, I'd suggest two things- DO NOT buy from a used car lot; private sellers have had a vested interest in the car and are more likely to fix issues rather than just cover them up like used car lots. 2nd point is to spend $300 or whatever and have the car inspected by a Jaguar dealer. They'll give it an in-depth go over as if it were being considered for a CPO and will write you up an estimate for all repairs needed (if any), which will give you negotiating leverage if you decide to move forward with the purchase. We're casually looking to add a SWB XJ to the fleet, but are aiming at a 2011-2012 Supercharged or Supersport because while they have the older electronics and infotainment, it also has the 6HP instead of the 8HP. We test drove an '11 Supercharged at a local used car lot to see how we liked it, and we feel it's nearly the best of both the XKR and XJ: enough power to make you hope to be at the front of the line at a light, and an interior and ride that will treat you and your passengers like royalty. If it weren't for the traffic-stopping good looks of the X150 (just my opinion), I'd rather have a SC'd 5.0L XJL as my daily driver. We're in Utah and if you're around here, I'd be happy to meet up and let you sample both vehicles. Spoiler: The XKR is far from stock in the power and brakes department. ;) Shoot me a private message on here and we can go from there. *edit- Oh yeah... and the XKR has 96k on it and sees several track days, autocrosses and many, many canyon runs a year. Believe me when I say that I use all of the car. It's needed a few more parts as a result, but you weren't asking about it, so I won't bore you with that. Both cars, electrically, have been Honda reliable.

I've seen conversation come to an immediate 'STOP' the second a JAAAAAAG comes within 40ft, and the looks of admiration from the people on the pavement is quite fun to see. It's as if the name has embodied something of the actual animal into the presence of the car. And as for the XF/XJ 3.0/50 models, well they're just 'Girl Bait' on wheels - YES, there are faster sleeker cars from Germany - BUT, NONE ARE JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGS!!.

I love Jaaags, currently on my 6th, an XJ Portfolio and love it. Strange to say I think it makes me drive more considerately, I let people get off their drives, never tailgate etc and honestly believe its down to the car! From a hooligan in a TVR to a gentleman in a Jaaag. But I can see what the three amigos mean about its cadish style, I bet Terry Thomas was a Jaaag driver.

are there no Jags in Norway?
@Catonzo Жыл бұрын
@@RD19902010 More than a few, but they are generally not used since most of them are classics. I've been personally looking at Jaaaaag XJS for a few years, but never actually bought one. Primarily because they guzzle petrol like insane (even the HE ones) and I want a car for daily use... and every day I drive about 50kilometers to job (to and back home combined) and that would easily cost me ~$15 every single day. And since I have an EV and can charge for free, I have to be a tiny bit sensible. The cars range from relatively cheap to outrageous prices ($15,000 to $40,000) because no one is really sure how much they really are willing to pay for one. Back a few years when I first started looking they were some $5000 then got a popularity boost for some reason. Otherwise I would -steal- borrow everyone's silver cutlery and oil paintings as well.

I've seen pictures of that. When I bought mine, the plates read "XKR," which I found redundant since that's what the badge on the back of the car says, too.

I used to have a smirk about Jags. Back in the 60's I used to work on Jags from the factory for the showrooms- always straight into workshops. And yes, things like the boots, the trim strips all rang bells. Fortunately I got to drive proper cars, like P5 rovers. The smile on my face was normally to do with the fact that some mugs had paid far more for their Jag, than I had for my Rover.
