If you have not seen this bond movie on a big screen then you really missed out. I grew up with all of the Sean Connery bond movies and I think he was one of the best bond's out there, But Timothy Dalton in "The Living Daylight's." & "Licence To Kill." was a amazing James Bond and one of my favorite's next to "Sean Connery." The whole soundtrack to "The Living Daylight's." was a complete masterpiece by the one and only "John Barry."

God, the horns in this soundtrack are just phenomenal. I adore Eric Serra's score, and wouldn't trade it for the world, but I can't help but wonder how John Barry would have done Goldeneye.

I loved this part. James is taking over pilot duty and tries to get Kara to board through the plane's cargo hold. Sure it was contrived. Necros manages to stow away and Bond is blythely unaware of his presence. Kara releases tye cargo along with Bond and Necros. It was hilarious. All while nearly ramming the airplane into the side of a mountain. I know it was scripted but it was pretty interesting. She actually makes things worse. I guess you had to be there. But it worked out well on screen. She played the befuddled heroine as well as anyone possibly could. I thoroughly liked the movie.

Why is there no mention of the actual authors of the music of the Living Daylights...it wasn’t John Barry it was Pal Waaktaar-Savoy and Magne Furuholmen of the Norwegian band a-ha. Barry only did the orchestration, the theme was presented to him as a finished piece of music which is clear on the demo tapes...with only the full lyrics missing because all the band had to work on was the title “The Living Daylights”. Due to contractual obligations Barry’s name was put on the writing credits for the movie and Magne’s name was removed. John Barry had a very poor attitude towards the young Norwegians, disrespectfully calling them “Hitler Youth”, highly insulting considering Norway had been invaded by Nazi Germany during WW2. A-ha still perform a rocked up version this song at most live gigs, usually as a finale due to popular demand from the fans, it’s still a must more than 30 years later. Btw ...the band removed Barry’s name from many subsequent recorded versions of this song and replaced it correctly with Magne Furuholmen and Pal Waaktaar-Savoy.

I've never actually found the interview (supposedly a Belgian newspaper) where Barry refers to them as such. They also seem to have liked what he added and made it more suitable to Bond.

Actually you are wrong on the other point too…they didn’t like the note changes to the music he made and changed them back again, they did however like the orchestration he added for the movie sound track, that they have been quoted as saying on many occasions.
