The score is the best of the series. The way they use the two Pretenders songs throughout the film during the action sequences, is just incredible. Inspired mixing but also the Bond sing by a-Ha, absolute class. Love it when the synths kick jn. Takes the film onto another level. Seeing it in the cinema last weekend really heightens your appreciation for Barry’s work and the combination of electronic and big band influences.

23:48 is just pure masterclass ... “stay where you are, now get down on your knees, hands behind your back.” “You’re professional, you do not kill without reason.” “Two of our men are dead, Koskov named you. Now why should I disobey my orders?” “I’m in the dark, as much as you. It’s a matter of trust. Who do you believe, koskov or me?” “If I trusted Koskov, we wouldn’t be talking. @Stefano Pavone If Dalton had been able to make the 3rd Bond film, I think he would have vaulted in popularity more. It would have been cool to see more films with him. Plus, it really took 3 movies for Moore to really grow in popularity, in the role. Connery set a good standard. This was John Barry's last James Bond score, and he finished with one of his strongest soundtracks. I am not sure how he felt about adding electronic rhythm tracks to several of the action sequences, but it works well in the film. Glad that Barry bowed out on a high note with one of the best Bond films in the franchise. in my opinion, Dalton brought back the toughness of Bond that had been lost with Roger Moore, but without the excessive violence and lack of elegance characteristic of the Daniel Craig films. Dalton's "one liners" were perfectly delivered, fitting to the scene without being too gratuitous. Too bad his tenure was just two films.

Great score by John Barry. This is one of my favorite Bond films and scores. I love that Barry was experimenting with mixing drum machines and synth with the classic Bond orchestral sound. While this gave the score and the action scenes great sense of cool edginess, it has the nature of being a product of its time while also being foward - thinking. Plus I absolutely love that Barry retained this beautiful romantic nature in this score with the beautiful "If There was A Man" waltz. For me it actually deepened the relationship between Bond and Kara. It felt like he would've left the life of danger behind for her. But that's just me.

This is still one of my all-time favorite Bond films and one of the reasons is because John Barry delivered a great score. Out of the 11 scores he is credited for, this one has to rank in his Top 3, along with You Only Live Twice and Diamonds Are Forever. Just my opinion, of course. 16:06 to 18:06 is my favorite theme, by far. I like that you can hear the flutist breathing in between the long notes, too. The longest-running film, a franchise of all time and still going strong for James Bond. All the BOND films have something to offer musically and theatrically speaking and this one The Living Daylights - A 007 Symphony (John Barry - 1987) is one of my all-time favorites. I do appreciate how much time and work went into the musical score composing and theatrical script writing and with all the takes and revisions in preproduction then actual production followed up by post-editing production to pull it off with lots of team effort of all the talented crews coming from all walks of life really. My second favorite is "YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE" with Sean Connery as the original BOND.
