@marjoriemcbride65573 жыл бұрын
@@con_boy It was actually quite the reverse in fact. Barry was highly insulting to the three very polite Norwegians, describing them as Hitler Youth and insisting Magne’s name was removed from the writing credits and his own put on…despite the fact that he only did the orchestration and was presented with a finished song written by Pal Waaktaar and Magne Furuholmen of a-ha. Due to contractural obligations the band were forced to comply, but on later album versions Barry’s name was removed and Magne’s name restored. The band were criticised for not attending the film’s premiere even though they had already made it clear that the date chosen was in the middle of a lengthy tour and they were committed to performing at concerts in Japan on the date they chose. They felt it was more important not to disappoint their Japanese fans than to be present in London, but Barry and the press badmouthed them without explaining that the reason for their absence wasn’t a snub to the movie but because they had a prior tour commitment.

Barry was one of the first film composers ever to use synths in OHMSS. Its interesting to note this occurred when Lazenby first replaced Connery. With this film, there are a lot more synths (check out Into Vienna, the synth punctuated Hercules Takes Off, and the mechanical/looped drums on this track) than in any other Bond score Barry has done since OHMSS. Guess what, it coincides with the departure of Moore and Daltons' first appearance. I guess its Barry's way of bringing something fresh and different to the appearance of a new 007.
@PaulRietvoorn10 жыл бұрын
Yes, Barry said in interviews that he felt new Bond actors needed a new 'sound'. The electric guitar is Connery's sound, which Barry very clearly emphasized in the gunbarrel from "Diamonds Are Forever", to celebrate his return so to speak. Dalton sounded like the 80s Bond.

@@srujan00 I absolutely love Dalton as Bond, but there’s a lot of stuff out there that suggests that it was the opposite. Dalton planned to come back for Goldeneye, the Broccoli’s wanted him back, but the higher ups wanted someone new to refresh the series citing Dalton’s previous two films being low grossers as extra proof that they needed someone new to continue. The Broccoli’s let him go and let him claim that it was he himself who decided to walk away as a way for him to not be embarrassed.
