Please don’t ever take this down. It brings back so many wonderful memories of our trips in the 90’s. It also lowers my BP in times of stress!

Nice recording Waltdisneyworldmedia. I always visited the living seas right after I visited the land at epcot and it was awesome. I loved seeing the dolphins and manatees as well as jellyfish that glowed in the dark. I even ate at the coral reef and enjoyed the catfish, salmon and one time I had pan-seared chicken breast and the best part was that I enjoyed a view of the coral reef while enjoying dinner. I love walt disney world!

Thank you so much for posting this vintage music. I was not able to go to WDW until 2011 and I feel like I missed so much. This helps.

I remember the Living Seas. It was practically empty, a shell of what it once was. I still was fascinated by it, and I loved seeing the fish when I was little. I'm happy to see its been given new life with Finding Nemo, and I hope to see it again someday!

I went to Epcot for the first time in 2017. The Seas had already existed for over 15 years by then. This music holds no nostalgia for me yet it still makes me feel something.

Great music. I got to see The Living Seas Pavilion in the late 90s, not long before it was transformed into The Seas with Nemo and Friends. This represents what I feel is a disappointing trend I've seen in Disneyland, California Adventure and WDW: replacing unique attractions, based on original concepts created expressly for the parks, with attractions/theming based (largely) on Pixar films. Don't get me wrong: Pixar movies like Finding Nemo are great. But the attractions at WDW based on original concepts (like Spaceship Earth ride, Maelstrom, Journey into Imagination, Expedition Everest, to name a few) are like original works of art, whereas the Pixar-inspired rides/lands are kind of like Hollywood sequels. Disney seems to be playing it safe, commercially, and even catering more to a younger audience. I wonder if (and hope) this trend might one day change.

I hate this kind of marketing... also in Italy theme parks are devoting to branding and marketing. In one of these, Gardaland, they changed a great journey into ancient Egypt called "Valley of the Kings" into a robotic laser game called revenge of Rah based on Stargate's series.very awful! I never see Epcot, but I think old attractions are better than the today's ones.
@stemikger10 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. When I think of Disney from the 80s and 90s, many of those attractions in EPCOT were very much like going to the World's Fair. It is what made Disney a totally unique experience and separated itself from a theme park and more of a truly special vacation experience. I still love Disney and EPCOT, but being a Disney fanatic, I long for the EPCOT of yesterday, especially Journey into Imagination from the 80s. If they want to incorporate PIXAR, they should do that at the Movie Studios and keep EPCOT a totally unique Word's Fair type experience.

Even as a kid (which was the last time I went to WDW) I felt Epcot was the more "grown up" park ... with Sciences and Geography (World Showcase) ... I already was interested in both subjects but epcot made me want to learn more of each ... changing e very ride to promote the new disney cartoon movie ... I am not a fan of ... maybe even in the Living Sea ...have a few Nemo themed stuff ... .but they killed the spirit of Epcot. The videos I have seen of one of my old favorites ... the Mexico ride ... that didn'tseem too bad from what I remember but for example ... the new Imagination ride from what I see is UNBEARABLE .... and figuring its a "I just liked it as a kid and I wouldn't now" .. I went back to re-watch the old ride ... nope ... I STILL LOVE that. and dont get me started on the second floor of that building being loved by so many and un-used. OR ... the Wonders of life pavilion just sitting there for years and years and years. I am glad I was there a few times at epcot at some would say "during the glory/golden years" ... hope someone listens at Disney and at least changes/adds some of that sort of attraction back. Heck I remember the first year i was at WDW was the last year (never knew that til later) 20,000 Leagues was open at The Magic Kingdom

Actually, of all the new stuff at Epcot, which I'm not such a fan of, I think Nemo was the best because it incorporated animation into real fish tanks using truly innovative technology. And Soarin' too. But generally, the Future area isn't much about the future anymore which is even more sad given what an innovator Disney has always been. Such a futurist. There should be something awesome akin to Year Million that inspires us about the far future in lots of areas. (And for the love of God, give Mexico a better ride!!) But if they have to pay the bills to keep it open, I can deal with a Frozen ride.

And I remember that places about the Living Seas Pavilion in Future World at Epcot for the past 40 years!!!! And now, the time had passed, it turned into World Nature neighborhoods of EPCOT, including The Seas Pavilion, The Land Pavilion and Moana's Journey of Water Pavilion!!! And that themed-lands was pays tribute to Disney's Animal Kingdom Park, and references to Disneynature and National Geographic, as well as Disney Conversation Funds!!!!

This attraction has sadly been ruined by neglect and by forcing the animated characters into it. At least Horizons got to die with dignity. Watch the intro movie that used to precede your entry to the pavilion. The original Living Seas was awe-inspiring.
@yeemcgee81498 жыл бұрын
Honestly the intro movie put me to sleep but I'll never forget as like a 12 year old thinking the nemo ride was okay but kinda lame but when we rolled into that tank I was awe struck. I can still stand in the observation deck and loose track of time. It's still awe inspiring. You just have to love it for what it is. Not what it used to be
@Xmetalfanx8 жыл бұрын
I know (or think I do) why Horizons went, with that "the building was on top of a sinkhole" story I have heard ... It's understandable to demo the building but I loved that building and wish they would bring it back .. .even with say updated animatronics or something ... especially if they'd expand Epcot for example
@Xmetalfanx8 жыл бұрын
yeah ... sounds legit there ... same way with 20,000 Leagues in WDW ... I heard it was getting to be "too much $" to maintain it
@Xmetalfanx7 жыл бұрын
I sort of disagree ... from what I have seen (especially what happened to some other attractions) ... this change may not be what I would have done but ... it's not bad. Just wish they would have KEPT the setup for 20,000 Leagues (one of my favorite movies from Disney) and even if they Nemo-a-fied that like Disneyland ... it'd make sense ... heck I think that would fit in the MK better ... but ... still I can see this change to The Living Sea ... eh its not bad in my option

What exactly is the picture your showing? Also how about some time stamps please? I know the first one is the main theme and towards the end is horn-pipe which sounds more like a Nintendo party.
