Biological concepts of species was given by mayer...what is meant by biological concept mam??
@NACBiology
@NACBiology 7 ай бұрын
A biological concept is an idea or principle that helps us understand living things and how they function. It's like general understanding about how living organisms work. For example, one biological concept is "adaptation." This means that living things change over time to better survive in their environment. for example of a chameleon. A chameleon can change its skin color to blend in with its surroundings. This adaptation helps it hide from predators and sneak up on its prey. So, the biological concept of adaptation helps us understand how the chameleon has evolved to survive in its habitat.

Mam...! There is question... What is the first step of taxonomy??? And the options were A) classification B) Identification C) Nomenclature D) Description And the ans was given identification.. why can't we consider description??
@NACBiology
@NACBiology Ай бұрын
The first step in taxonomy is identifying the organism. Identification involves recognizing and naming the organism based on its characteristics. Once identified, it can then be classified, described, and given a scientific name (nomenclature). So, the sequence generally follows: Identification → Classification → Description → Nomenclature.

Madam ..taxonimic groups are distinct biological entites and not merely morphological aggregates ....i.cannot understand these line mam
@NACBiology
@NACBiology 4 ай бұрын
Taxonomic groups, such as species or genera, are distinct biological entities because they represent evolutionary lineages with shared ancestry, not just collections of similar traits. Unlike simple morphological aggregates, which are based solely on physical similarities, these groups reflect deeper genetic and evolutionary relationships. This means that taxonomic classification is grounded in the evolutionary history and genetic connections of organisms, providing a more accurate understanding of biological diversity.

Mam i was unable to understand this point at 1:07:21 to species of other genera means??
@NACBiology
@NACBiology 7 ай бұрын
"Species of other genera" refers to species belonging to different or distinct genera within a taxonomic classification system. In biology, a genus is a rank used in the classification of living organisms, and it sits above species but below family. So, when someone refers to "species of other genera," they are talking about species that belong to different groups or categories than the one being discussed.

Mam I had a doubt that in ncert in class chondricthyes given that notochord is persistent throughout the life but it is under vertebrate so notochord is need to develop into vertebral column . Pls clarify mam
@NACBiology
@NACBiology 2 ай бұрын
In Chondrichthyes (like sharks and rays), the notochord does persist throughout their life. Unlike in most vertebrates, where the notochord is replaced by the vertebral column during development, Chondrichthyes retain the notochord as their main support structure. So, while they are classified as vertebrates, their notochord does not develop into a traditional bony vertebral column like in other vertebrates. Instead, they have a cartilaginous skeleton. This unique feature makes Chondrichthyes different from many other vertebrate groups.

Not exactly. Property: The ability to reproduce is a property of living organisms. Feature: The presence of wings in birds is a feature that helps them fly. One describes a characteristic of life, and the other highlights an important aspect of a specific group of organisms!

MUTUAL AND EXCLUSIVE , INCLUSIVE MEANING MAM AND CAN U SAY THIS NCERT LINE EXPLANATION IN MAJAORITY OF HIGHER PLANT AND ANIMAL GROWTH AND REPRRODUCTION ARE MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE EVENTS MAM?
@NACBiology
@NACBiology 5 ай бұрын
When two events are mutually exclusive, it means they cannot occur at the same time. If one event happens, the other cannot. For example, if you flip a coin, it can land either heads or tails, but not both simultaneously - these events (heads and tails) are mutually exclusive. Mutually Exclusive Events: In the context of higher plants and animals, growth and reproduction are often considered mutually exclusive because they typically occur at different stages or phases of an organism's life cycle. Plants: For many plants, once they start reproducing (flowering and producing seeds), their growth may slow down or change focus to support reproductive efforts. This means that active growth and reproductive activities (like flowering) often do not happen simultaneously. Animals: Similarly, in animals, growth phases (such as juvenile growth) are distinct from reproductive phases (such as mating and raising offspring). Animals may invest energy differently during these phases, focusing on growth during certain periods and reproduction during others.

Mam once can you explain how the systema naturae is the answer??? It's species plantarum naa maa??? As the question is for naming plants ......
@NACBiology
@NACBiology 2 ай бұрын
Species Plantarum and Systema Naturae, along with other works by Linnaeus, are significant. In Species Plantarum, he focused specifically on plants, while in Systema Naturae, he wrote about both plants and animals. However, the NCERT textbook specifically mentions Systema Naturae. Since the question is based on direct statements, lets go with NCERT. The textbook doesn’t discuss Linnaeus's other publications or the many species they cover, so it’s best to stick with what NCERT states.

The common characteristics btw tomato and potato will be maximum at their which level mam so confusing family or genus?
@NACBiology
@NACBiology 2 ай бұрын
At genus level, tomatoes and potatoes share the most common characteristics at the genus level. They both belong to the same family, Solanaceae, but they are in different genera: Solanum for potatoes and Lycopersicon (or Solanum in some classifications) for tomatoes. So, their similarities are greater at the genus level.

In terms of classification, tomatoes and potatoes indeed belong to the same family (Solanaceae), which means they share many characteristics at that level. If the answer key states "family," it is correct because they belong to the same family. The confusion often arises from distinguishing characteristics at different taxonomic levels.

Mam having sharp teeth and tail is a character mam? What is a character mam?
@NACBiology
@NACBiology 7 ай бұрын
"Having sharp teeth and a tail" could indeed be considered physical characteristics of an organism. For example, in the context of describing a species of animal, "sharp teeth" and "a tail" could be considered characters used to distinguish that species from others. Biologists might use such characters, along with many others, to classify organisms into different groups or taxa.

The name of Carl Linnaeus's name (or "Linn." for short) to a species often signifies that he was involved in classifying or describing the species according to his binomial nomenclature system. In the case of Solanum tuberosum, while Linnaeus did not originally describe the species, he did include it in his system of classification and used the name Solanum tuberosum. As a result, it is common to see his name associated with species that he classified or formalized, even if he was not the original describer.

@NACBiology 7 ай бұрын
"biological affinities" typically refer to the relationships between different organisms based on their biological characteristics, such as genetic similarities, anatomical structures, or evolutionary histories. "affinities" and "biological affinities" are closely related concepts, but "biological affinities" specifically focus on the connections between organisms in the context of biology. They help scientists understand how different species are related to each other and how they have evolved over time.
