The Loft Garden: Grow Tent & Wiring (S01E01)

In the first episode of The Loft Garden, I take care of the pre-requisites. Namely, I re-wire my loft so I can install grow lights. I also set up a grow tent in my loft in which to grow "the loft garden".

i have my own winter grow light but it does not come with the cover. The cover make sense, so I can save light - and it can go towards growing plants. Once frost hit Ottawa, I start growing seeds in my basement around November, so by around April, I have a flimsy pepper plant which is sending flowers! duh-mistake! This year, I will plan better, maybe I will plant tobacco and cacao! Update us, looks promising:)

I am doing a time lapse of them growing :-) I hope it works out, otherwise I'll just have to try again :-) These are oyster mushrooms - I know their are some varieties which are grown on oak logs I think, but Oyster mushrooms seem to be very easy.

heh - yeah... that about sums it up... I was stiff and sore the next day from having to bend in such strange ways to set that damn tent up!

If you are using HPS or MH bulbs you need a contact relay or you will weld your timer points together because of the initial load and it will mess times up If using floro straight into the socket is fine :) Ask your local grow shop what a contact relay is :)

I think the loft may be a little warm at the moment - I'm not sure they love it as much as they could :-( We will see when the time lapse footage is finished :-)

wow is it the coffee you drink that helps with the speed ? ;) lol what really would make these magic is if you do another time-laps of them growing :) question can you grow any kind of mushrooms this way or just these ? as I know some mushrooms require old dead wood. Can't wait to see how this works out for you :)

i wouldnt have done it with a grow tent i woukdhave just brought some reflective sheeting and covered the walls n shit with it because youve got the insulation in your roof and you could grow alot more

bloody ebay tents, always an issue when something missing. Just like Ikea, maybe we should let them only be sold through Ikea and then we would know hey the corners missing or the instructions are in another language! great effort though on the video, made me tired just watching you move that fast.
