Nice video, but I would prefer a fire layout that I could influence when it's not going as you anticipated. I don't like tipi's for the same reason. I use handful's of wood and build it from the bottom up. The inverted (up-side-down) fire is perhaps a better option for a low maintenance fire layout. Also be careful with putting your knife in/close to the fire. The heat could make it weak (unharden) and your edge will not last as long...

Basically a corn byproduct. It's ground up into a sand like consistency. Sounds bland but it's really quite good.

I usually go with the upside down fire (lighting my pyramid on top and letting it burn the wood downward (burns hot but slow), but I think I'll give this one a try. Also, I find it encouraging and refreshing to see young people learning/teaching primitive skills. Haters just don't get it. Thanks for all the vids.

Its a useful skill, could save someone stranded and freezing to death better safe and sorry good thing to teach at a early age. Regarding the individual is trusted and responsible.

Great stuff Kenny... Nice demonstration of confidence to share the "less than optimal" results on the grits. I'm going to have to give that fire-lay a try. Keep 'em coming... I still intend to try your PVC hatchet sheath.

So you're saying that everyone who subscribes to my channel is pathetic because they listen to somone younger than them? That because they are humble enough to understand that they can learn something from anyone of any age they're "dumb as crap?" Pride comes before destruction my friend.

First time in my 62 years I've seen burnt,boiled grits. Another first young brother. I truly admire the way you're not afraid to show your mishaps. Cool knife use and great fire lay. Always enjoy your videos.

Best value knife on the planet. Can't beat it for $10 bucks. Obviously it's a beginner/skinning knife. Good for carving and fine work but that's about it.

Mine is 10x22. I wish it was a bit taller. I've probably put $200 in. That mainly stovepipe and kitchenware.

Just wanted to take a moment to thank you, Kenny. My ten year old son asked his dad this past weekend to help him make a log cabin fire "like the one Kenny from Brave the Wilds" made. He loved the video, loved making the fire, and now has one more skill in his toolbox. Thanks!

Nice video! We used to make the same kind of fire with the Scout Troop. Only we used logs of 6 ft long! That was really crazy but lots of fun Take care, Mahdi
@allenwhite694611 жыл бұрын
I like your vids, reminds me of when I was in the scouts in the 70's, but I think that is funny that most peeps on here are dumb as crap, probably never been camping and have to learn from a young guy, nothing wrong with it, just pathetic that's all! lol and if you go into the mountains or woods and you get lost, you should have never been there period! lol like going to a gas station to ask for directions when you could have bought a map and mapped your route in advance, very stupid! lol
@ilbob11 жыл бұрын
I will have to try this approach (platforms inside the stacks) to a log cabin fire some time. Usually I make them by building a small teepee fire inside the outer stack of bigger stuff and feeding it into the center with larger and larger stuff until there are enough coals to make it more or less self sustaining. Its great when you have large chunks of damp wood that otherwise would be tough to burn and requires little in the way of work to keep it going.
@cricks211 жыл бұрын
If I ever get lost in the woods, I hope its with Kenny, he can make fire with 2 pieces of soggy spaghetti. Good work Kenny, I always enjoy your videos and learn something too :)

Allen, not everyone in this world has grown up camping, or being raised in the country, or even been in boy scouts. I've been hunting, camping, and practicing survival skills since I was about ten. I'm currently military and well trained, but still this kid points things out that sometimes I just never thought of. You wont see this kid on the news shooting up his class mates. Kenny, keep it up man.

Nice king of camp fire but I don't know what did you mean with that word used in that moment that you use nest, for started the fire. Sorry, I'm not U.S. citizen or Britain, so my english isn't good enough. I'm just want to know what do you mean, or what word is that you use when you is about to start the fire, it's like a synonymous to "fire's nest"?? And besides all that, your vid it's seems very good and quality sound perfect to trying sleep with clickynd fire sounds and this fire aren't eficielty but very strong!! Eficiency have to do with quality of burn!! Your's campfire seems powerfull, perfectly to cook like you do, but nothing compared like a not much bigger campfire do with 2 days lenght of duration, in some youtube's video that you can find there!! Anyways, Thanks to this good up load!! P.S. Good trick that of just use a knife tu pull boiled water or pots!! :D :D

I built one of these without knowing they existed. My idea was to have large vents on the bottom to shovel smaller, drier fuel into, and a large vent that could be used to direct hot air into drying the larger sticks.
