After two months of planning, scripting, editing, more planning, more re-editing, recording, more re-recording, rendering, re-rendering, downloading software, and re-re-rendering, I decided that Sony Vegas and uploading to KZbin is unnecessarily tedious and I may need to purchase some new editing software.
More importantly, you are all ready to witness and sit through this behemoth of a video. Welcome to the fourth episode of The Logo Corner, perhaps the longest I have created yet.
This episode covers the logo evolution of Warner Bros, a company that has a rich history both in filmography and American animation. I spend more time discussing the film aspect, and I may reserve another Logo Corner episode specifically for Warner Bros' animation department.
The history of this logo is ultimately complex and byzantine, but it's perhaps one of the most interesting and enduring ones (at least from my research anyways). Because I have compressed this episode to one part, it might be a bit overwhelming, but I believe I have enough dedicated viewers.
Enjoy this episode! Keep on logo-ing (that's a word now).
Thank you for watching and please comment.

I'll always remember the WB-Kinney logo for appearing at the beginning of Dirty Harry, just like I'll remember MGM's 1968 logo for 2OOl: a space odyssey.

I know this was made like two years ago, I just want to make a slight correction. Warners didn't actually make 'Gone With the Wind'. That was the Selznick Studios with some help with distribution from MGM. Warners just own the film because MGM's entire pre-1948 film library was sold to the studio. However back in the day they were probably vying for the film rights...

I actually DUCK at the Harry Potter variants! Your research is amazingly in depth, and totally fascinating. Your narration upbeat and very funny. Color me subscribed and keep up the GREAT work! :D

I like how he used the one from Deliverance @ 35:50. Thanks to that, I decided to check it out when it was on Netflix once, and I knew it was going to have that logo with the intro dialogue example, which is basically some laughter followed by the line "you wanna talk about the vanishing wilderness?" The film ended up becoming one of my favorites thanks to noticing it for featuring the scene with the iconic "Dueling Banjos" piece, along with the "squeal like a pig" scene, which are arguably my favorite scenes in the film. Speaking of Gremlins, a piece of trivia involving the film being the first in years to use the classic golden shield with the banner and cloudy backdrop was shown with that exact example shown @ 42:15 as the film opens on my digital copy of the film I ordered off of Amazon Prime.

RE: The Kinney acquisition I want to say that Kinney owned DC Comics/National Periodicals and Publications at the time, because the _Batman_ series definitely mentions that corporation in its end credits. Of course, this set the stage for Warner to own DC Comics a little bit later on, and it also led to the _Batman_ rights issues: Warner had the characters, but 20th Century Fox had the show.

One of my favorite variants of the W7 shield is the one from Sweet November @ 26:09 thanks to my enjoyment of the dreamy music and the hovering toward NYC, though I strangely first became familiar with Sweet November via the 2001 remake. Another one of my favorite variants of the W7 shield is the one from Chubasco @ 25:34, as I like how it opens with a pier and some cool beach party music. Also, I surprisingly found out that the triumphant comeback of the classic golden shield adorning the company name banner with the cloudy backdrop after a seventeen-year absence began with Gremlins, so perfect timing must've been made for that iconic logo to be resurrected with a cult classic, albeit one that caused some controversy leading to the PG-13 rating getting shoehorned into the system a month later.

One joke you missed was the many times that Looney Tunes characters would break the 4th wall and mention or address J. L. Warner. Heck in "The Scarlet Pumpernickel", Daffy Duck spends the entire cartoon pitching a story idea to J.L. Warner himself (voiced by Mel Blanc).

Of all of Warner Bros. logos, one of my personal favorites would have to be Saul Bass' "Big W". Even though it was a major departure from the traditional Shield logo, I always liked the design of it. I also like the "75 Years" logo, mainly because of that cool Wind-chime theme. I'm kinda surprised that you didn't delve into Warner's large catalog of distribution logos.

There's also some Warner Bros. logos that you forgot to mention in this video, there's the blue WB shield without a banner. This logo was used from 2020 to 2021. There's also the 2021 & 2023 Warner Bros. logos, first one previous logo from 2020-2021, the second one from 2021 and third one from 2023 with the current WB shield with a banner. There's also a new fanfare playing over with the 2021 logo, plus the silent and the opening theme plays over the logo as well. Lastly, Warner Bros. Pictures has two bylines: "A WarnerMedia Company" & "A Warner Bros. Discovery Company". As far I know, I'm hoping Warner Bros. should be parted ways with Discovery, Inc. in the foreseeable future.

In 2023, WB will celebrate its 100th anniversary, so it’ll be interesting to see what they come up if they decide to celebrate it on screen, like Paramount and Universal did when they celebrated their respective 100th anniversaries. BTW... the WB/New Line Cinema mashup can be rather scary when they’re placed before any of the movies in the “Conjuring” franchise.

Derek Roberts i disagree for one thing i thought it was awful even for 1967-1970. What confused me the most is that I can't tell if the W7 awkwardly wording is supposed to represent Warner Bros.-Seven Arts or just the W with the seven rushed together in. 😕🤔

Regarding Warner Bros releasing “Woodstock” in 1970, I’m really curious what logo/notice was used on that film originally. I’ve yet to find the original opening of the film on KZbin: the first video release in the 70s/80s opened it with the Saul Bass logo, while the 1994 director’s cut opens with the 1984 shield. Even more confusing is that the original posters stated it was “a Warner Bros. Inc. release”, with no mention of Kinney or Seven Arts, like this was during the transition period before the sale to Kinney was completed. Either a special, VERY rare WB logo would’ve been used, or maybe there was only a text notice for WBI or nothing at all (or maybe the Kinney shield had been introduced by the time the film was actually released and that’s what opened the film).
