‘Soundscapes of London’
By JIWHAN JEON
When I was thinking about how to conceptualise the piece, I remembered that many composers have titled their pieces from cities, and it didn't take me long to decide - London.
After a prelude march, a serene monologue of the second movement, and a short joyful waltz, the fourth movement with witty English folk style leads to finale.
In fifth movement, with intro of Big Ben’s chimes, followed by the tranquil melody of the English horn, and the contrasting B theme - that builds to the climax of the whole piece.
I tried to convey the delicate feelings that can only be felt through music over the words.
