I agree with you, with slight reservations. And, for a good reason: Whereas ShishirJi refers to his association with the Tinseltown in a contextual sense, Tabassum brags about HERSELF... and not the artist in question. How much they ALL loved her... blah blah blah. It is downright annoying. Frankly, she should be embarrassed. Because of her this "Me Me Me" attitude, a few years ago, I stopped watching a show on cable TV, ABHI TO MAIN JAWAN HOON..., broadcast from NewYork, in which she had unceremoniously displaced and replaced the original host... a low key modest and unassuming guy. She was such a turn off that the channel lost many of its viewers.

This is such a sad account... yet not so untypical of the glamorous world of cinema. Times change and so do priorities. When there is a mismatch of the goals of an individual and the expectations of the masses, the demand of an artist fades. Consequently, one disappears in the oblivion without a trace... but not before leaving a faint mark on the hearts and minds of the viewers. Thanks, ShishirJi, for reaching out to Rani Ji. Many of us who did not know her name but most of us instantly recognized her face. Perhaps it might bring her a little comfort knowing that she left an indelible mark in folds of the memories of many Indian cinemagoers, who after 4 decades of her absence, remember her and are only happy to learn about your discovery of her. Yet, I will be less than honest if I did not acknowledge the fact that I can't help but feel deeply saddened to learn of her premature departure from the Silver Screen, and about her present-day lonely existence at an old age home. The harsh reality is that marriage and children don't necessarily give someone security or guaranteed happiness. Such is life. 💔
