The Lonely Villa is a 1909 American short silent crime drama film directed by D. W. Griffith.
Special Notes: A lot of people show this film and its always poor quality. Take note how mint quality the images are, as the Library of Congress had a 35mm print to restore. Look closely in the living room, the full frame showing sprockets holes also reveals the doorway is a false wall and you can see the cast on the other side waiting to walk in.

CAST: The film stars David Miles, Marion Leonard and Mary Pickford in one of her first film roles. It is based on the 1901 French play Au Telephone (At the Telephone) by André de Lorde.
The Lonely Villa was produced by the Biograph Company and shot in Fort Lee, New Jersey. It was released on June 10, 1909 along with another D.W. Griffith split-reel film, A New Trick.

This restoration is nothing short of amazing! It really looks like B/W 4K film. Those early movie sets were very, cute. Especially with the see plain door with a see through wall 😀 Very interesting to see the American Biograph AB logo move to random locations during the film.

Also check the official Mary Pickford estate website they have a whole collection of her shorts, many Biograph's amazing quality, but not a fan of their music scores. On my site I added music to everything.
