The long and short of being a zookeeper

7.20.2011: Jen Vincent of Cranston has been a giraffe and elephant zookeeper at Roger Williams Park Zoo for three of her 18 years experience. She cares for them, feeds them, cleans and does training with them. The three giraffes are Amber, 19, weighing 1,684 pounds; Sukari, 18, at 1,732 pounds; and Jaffa, 1, at 907 pounds. They are one of the favorite attractions at the zoo.

cuuuuuute!! i wanna do this when I'm older! how well does it pay, what are the hours, and what kind of struggles are there when being a zookeeper?

Orca it doesn't pay that much, you'll work mostly around 8 hours a day but if something happens you won't get to go home until it's sorted because animals dont care about closing hours 😂 plus there's a lot of bodily obstructions. For example, if you go trough everything to become a zookeeper and you finally find a job, and you fuck up your back unfixable, you're done. No more zookeeping for you. So you really have to keep track of your body and working out and lifting would benefit you
