We bikepacked up the Highwood Pass in the mountains SW of Calgary, Alberta. Closed (until mid June) highway is a riding paradise for a week or so in late spring as it thaws. Rode halfway in with full bikepacking rigs, surrounded by carbon fibre road bikes. Then halfway up we just dropped into the ditch down to a meadow, then rode in to a perfect mountain camp site. Next day two rides up to and above snow level, hiking, sky watching while sipping wine (yay for a Mule trailer). Best part was introducing a friend to bikepacking.

Biggest problem with a lot of the "natural trails" in Scotland is many are just walkers tracks/drovers paths, only have to see the reviews on Trailforks for Torridon/Beinn Damph to see how generally shite they are and way too much HaB(og) . Thanks for this vid, I'll strike that one off of the to do list ! (It's a pity many of these tracks can't be improved and tracks joining up different catchments put in to create and improve off road touring/bikepacking/gravel ...Living in Kincraig it would be good to get over to the Tromie/Braemar/Dulnain/Findhorn/Loch Ness without dragging the bike through bog...and even the trails around here that have been "improved" have been done to f&£k up the biking with razor sharp water bars that even the walkers despise, like Carn Ban Mor and Bynack More!!!)

Hey Rich, were you happy with your tyre choice of Vittoria Mezcal/Barzo? I am contemplating riding the same combination or only mezcal/barzo for front and rear during my alp crossing from Slovenia to France. I want tyres that roll fast because I need to be efficient (like the mezcal) but also need the grip to hold on to more lose terrain. I am not looking for Enduro tyres and want to ride a lighter XC setup. Thanks in advance! :)
