Utterly brilliant! What a great presenter and all-round mtb hero! I took the 1040 solar on yesterday's BHF L2B Off-Road, started at 6am with 20km ride to the start line and finally turned it off at Brighton station 120km 10.5 hrs later - 71% battery left! Maps and navigation, audio alert, HR, speed and cadence sensors the whole way - what a fantastic bit of kit!

Love the idea of counting laps with the rocks but it makes you think that a great invention would be something that you could mount on your handlebars that could keep track of things like how many laps you'd done.

it Looks like a massive promotion of Garmin 1040 solar and Garmin products, nothing more. When I chose the 1040 for myself, I preferred the non-Solar version, since the Solar screen is darker due to the presence of solar panels.
