Lupa being absolutely done with Roshi and calling him by his Government nearly killed me. Y'all make me laugh too much. Onto the episode though. Kisaki is playing 5D chess constantly and this entire anime is just people playing catchup to his schemes. He even seems to be egging Takemichi on to do better. You know it's bad when the main antagonist is hoping that you succeed a little bit so it's less sad to watch. Smiley and Angry are on different types of demon time. But I like the dynamic they have. With one having a smile but being ruthless and one seeming super angry but actually being really caring. Oh. And Takemichi landed a punch. But him not getting immediately pummelled after is because he met a childhood friend. So I mean, he gets partial points.

SPOILER DISCUSSION, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK: my theory is that the animation studio is looking for ways to get through the plot faster and have things be more jointed to the watcher (since they’ve revealed this will only be 13 episodes which is CRASS imo) we were given context that Kakucho and Takemichi have a longstanding relationship and the fact that Takemichi was the one to fight him just sped up that process rather than going through the Smiley fight. also, i believe they gave Kakucho that dialogue about a traitor to further solidify that he is still willing to help Takemichi despite his allegiance to Izana. plus, it gives the watcher something to stew about until it’s revealed in what i calculated to be several more episodes/possibly the halfway point of the season?
