I remember coming home from being out all night, watching and throwing fireworks with my friends in my neighborhood. I was 12 back then,and it must've been around 1 or 1:30 in the morning,a Friday night,going into Saturday. Not being the least bit sleepy, I was changing channels on the black and white TV we had in the kitchen,and lo and behold,channel 9 was showing this very game. It tripped me out that they were still playing,and I watched till the very end

I remember my dad (a fellow Met fan) telling me about this game the morning after it happened. This later became known as "The Rick Camp Game." (BTW, at 4:50, Rick Cerone's last name is pronounced suh-ROAN, not suh-ROH-nee.) 👍

Great video, but the stadium where this game was played was NOT the stadium that hosted the 1996 Olympics. That one was Turner Field.

Turner Field hosted the Olympics, but Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium hosted the baseball games. After the Olympics, Turner Field was reconfigured for baseball.

One of my earliest memories is as a three year old and waking up to watch my mom watching this game at midnight (my father was a shift worker). We were two hours behind so it ended for us around one or two in the morning.

Camp wasn’t hitting “point sixty”. That would be .600. He was hitting “point zero sixty” which is .060.

It was not the longest game in MLB history. It was officially 6 hr. 10 minutes. The White Sox Brewers 1984 game went 8 hr 6 minutes.

This is not the longest MLB game in terms of innings, but I once was catcher for a 22-inning game whose elapsed time I don't know. I actually didn't feel that tired until after the game ended, but the next few days were hell. I had a great game at the plate: 6 for 11 with 2 walks. I kept getting on early in innings then being stranded.

19 innings isn’t the longest game. If you’re talking time maybe but there have been longer games inning wise. When I searched KZbin for longest game in mlb history I was looking for most extra innings

This is the longest MLB game time wise. Although this one was delayed. The Mets were also one of the teams that played in the longest MLB game ever without a delay or postponement, a game that went over 7 hours and ended after 3 AM.

@@shrimpflea The time of the game was 6 hours, 10 minutes, not counting the rain delays, which tacked on another two hours. The Pawtucket Red Sox and the Rochester Red Wings game in 1981 had 8 hours and 25 minutes, just for the playing time. So OP was right, 19 innings isn't the longest game, not by playtime, nor by innings.
