I still think there is no better place than Portugal and Madeira. You can walk at 3 am in Coimbra with a newly bought computer (I did) and you don´t get mugged. I didn´t spend enough time in Madeira, only a week in January 23, but in Coimbra I´m safe. That´s a lot worth. I´m a 72 y.o. widower since 2017 thanks to insecurity in Argentina.
