Sometimes musical acts don't always pair up so well and you're left wondering how someone could have thought that it would work, but this seriously worked, what a joy to hear, love it! Love Billy Joel and Boyz to Men.

Definitely true about a lot of acts not pairing up well. The advantage Billy Joel has is such a wide variety of styles between albums that basically anything other than opera or rap could find a place in one of his shows like this. It’s a credit to his diversity of writing and creativity.

I love how Shawn points to Wanya and gives him the "cut off sign" at about 2:33. He could tell Wanya was about to belt something out and of course, you can't let Wanya out sing Bill Joel at his own concert!

Much thanks for posting this! Philly's own Boys II Men providing excellent background vocals on this great song. Some casual music listeners might not know that on the original record, that's Mr. William Joel singing lead and ALL the background vocals(which is something I still shake my head in amazement at!) . This feat was something a fellow piano man named Ray Charles did almost 20 years earlier on a record called "I Believe To My Soul"-as he sang all the backing female vocals of the Raylettes. I've never been fortunate to see Long Island's favorite son live in person-although thanks to the excellent dvd "Live at Shea Stadium" & the various live gems I've been discovering here on youtube- everythings good on this end. I remember an old interview where he said that he never liked bullies-hence the reason he always says to the crowd before exiting the stage, to remember not to take any bs from nobody-which is a credo I believe in as well. Mr. Joel's music and lyrics have always been for me about qualities that bring people together instead of what seperates them. And for that reason alone I think we need his music now more than ever.
@WoodJack997 жыл бұрын
Hate to burst your bubble but even though BJ grew up on Long Island I don't think of him as a Long Islander. I think of him as a Bronx boy because he was born there, and I hadn't realized he grew up on LI. But LIers sure love him and he loves LI too.
@girlfromthebronxbywayofelb72882 жыл бұрын
Not trying to be too personal, but i'd love to know what neighborhood in the Bronx? Also, he does identify as being from long island, and I understand that his family moved to long island when he was really young, so... I think Billy Joel being an islander feels right.
@mekhaylomarquis469 Жыл бұрын
I didn't know he sang all the vocals but that's a cool fact. My mom used to listen to him when I was a child and I enjoy his music still today. I thought break my stride was his but I turns out it's Matthew Wilder I think. Still great music though. I think just the way you are is classic.
