Not quite. Not literally. They can die basically because of "deep emotional pain" and injuries of course. To me the combination of these implies self harm. Also, technically they don't even die from these. They're reborn in Valinor if I remember correctly.

It's a movie with dragons, orcs, elves, and wizards ...but as cool as they are, I just adore the horses, one of God's most noble creatures imho. Love your reaction at 54:55 the rivalry between Legolas and Gimli is one of my favorite things of the whole series. ❤

Loved ya'lls reaction so far. Can't wait for part 2. And I love the competition between Gimli and Legolas! Also, Arwen made her choice when she turned back after having the vision of her son with Aragorn. The life of the immortals left her, making her mortal (though with a very long lifespan). And only the immortal elves can set sail to Valinor (ancestral home/land of the elves only). That's why she said: "There is no ship now that can bear me hence." To save his daughter's life, Elrond had the sword reforged, the same sword Aragorn used to prove to the undead army that he was the rightful king of Gondor. Arwen helped save Middle Earth in a big way, in my opinion, just by choosing to live a mortal life. Sorry for the rant- I'm just so excited!

Samwise Gamgee is the most under-rated hero in the whole trilogy. And the part where the funeral pyre is on fire: they had to use an extremely old trick. That trick is called Pepper's Ghost effect. The crew made another funeral pyre not too far away and lit that one. After that one was lit, they set up two mirrors that reflected the lit pyre to the unlit one. Because a horse won't kick anything on fire.

In the West, a terrorist is someone who target non-combatants in order to send a message or spead fear in the name of an ideology or political agenda. If Islamist militants only target combatants they should not get the description of terrorist. But many have, and thus many have been called correctly "terrorists." Killing young girls at an Ariana Grande concert is not killing combatants. In the case of the war in Afghanistan, if the Taliban only targets the U.S. military, then they could correctly be called the Taliban army (or something like that). Again, according to English language and Western thought. This has some roots in Christian theology where violence is never the answer, but many Christians at least make the concession of killing in defensive battles, and Humanitarian thought is influenced by Christian morals. Anyways, it's obviously a charged topic these days, though to me it is cut and dry facts. In the end, who is in the right and who is in the wrong in such matters will be determined by God.

The cavalry charge vs ruined city is one of the stupidist, militarily speaking, liberties of the movie. When they get there what next, ride up the ruined walls? It doesn't happen in the book: Faramir is woulded by a nazgul dart as he retreats from a holding action.
