It often gets thrown around that the series is "beautiful to watch" because of the CGI esp. locations. But I honestly can't put premium at that alone considering I saw renderings in Unreal Engine 5 and think its not that very exceptional. I wholly agree with the writing, the incompetence is showing. I can't remember a movie or a series where the writers are able to (unintentionally) portray the MAIN CHARACTER as the most unlikeable, obnoxious and irritating part of the show (you all know whose the character I am referring) LOL

I disagree with the dialogue rant, that of being bland and written by a toddler. It is fine. What is the difference in this compared to Sam's and Frodo's boring cringefest everytime they talk to each other. It is that it doesn't have "written by Tolkien" moniker and that's it. If you didn't know who was the author and you watched Peter Jacksons movies, you would laugh and puke everytime Sam nad Frodo were on the screen. With that prolonged constipated eye contact scenes of -you are my friend, -no you are my friend, -no you that would make you roll your eyes if it was done anywhere else. But since it is Tolkine then it is ok because we grew up with it.
@lockekappa5002 жыл бұрын
I dont necessarily share your disdain for the hobbits dialogue in LotR, as there was much more to those movies than their dialogue, but I DO agree with the fact that the dialogue in this show is not nearly as bad as he's making it out to be. I think it does a good job of skirting the line of old english mannerisms and keeping it a bit more modernized. I wish maybe he would state specific incidents so I could go back and listen to them to see if I agree. But written by a toddler? I dunno, something seems a bit too harsh and excessive for what I watched. I think he has to realize this is a lighter tv show, and won't have the grit of the dialogue that something like GoT had. Plus I know James enjoys depravity and harsh language in his shows, so I can imagine the family friendly nature of this show isn't doing much for him.

Yeah I mean I get it why some found it boring but about the quality of the show it’s a worst case of scenarios an average show with good production quality . So far I like it episode 2 and 3 were nice , my only gripe in this episode was the slow motion scene with Galadriel riding that horse

@@hugofernandes2930 That first shot with her smiling was badly done. I actually don’t think it’s an average show. It’s episode three of a story designed to go five years. And I’m over these excitement junkies crying slow or boring when not every other scene doesn’t involve a fight, chase, or explosion. This episode had as much character development as Dance of Dragons, with huge story advancements. All of the negative complaining about ethnicity and not following the Tolkien lore has set a bad tone that it’s unfair that a new show has to deal with.

@@malestorm234 That's objectively false, if you take our main two characters for example. Rhaenyra in House of the Dragon and Galadriel, nothing has happened with Galadriel in 3 episodes. Rhaenyra is shown to be a dragon rider, intelligent, independent, but disregarded..she's aware of her station as a woman but when she's chosen as heir she is willing to take on the responsibility. Her mother dies, her little brother dies, her father remarries her close friend, she stops a squabble with her uncle, kills a boar, has multiple marriage proposals. Galadriel is chasing evil...she met a guy on a ship...pissed some people off in Numenor. That is all. You can not compare to the two unless you aren't paying attention
@lockekappa5002 жыл бұрын
@@ahmorgan I haven't seen HoD yet, but you're being a bit disingenuous about what Galadriel has gone through. (I preface this with her probably being my least favorite character, so I'm not simping for her, trust me.) With that said, she did lose her brother and had to watch all her people die in front of her, hence why she takes up his sword, her brother being the main driving force behind just about everything she's doing. Then effectively she becomes a war ridden soldier, who has PTSD and can't put her sword down even when the war has ended. (There's definitely a metaphor behind her sword and a soldiers rifle somewhere in there) She's then "sent home" without any real acknowledgement of how she feels, or how she will acclimate to normal life while still feeling the unrest of battle in herself. So to clarify, I love the SETUP for Galadriel. I just think they execute it terribly. I think the actress doesnt exude any of the war hardened power that she should. She should be regal and powerful, not rich and whiney, and there's a softness to her actress (both physically and in presence) that just doesnt fit the commander of an army, and one of the most feared and imposing females in all of fantasy writing.
@ahmorgan2 жыл бұрын
@@lockekappa500 you're projecting something far more powerful onto the screen. What we see is her brother in some battle, he dies off camera, we had literally one scene of them together when she was a child. We get a little info about the elves going to middle earth. Then we see her leading her troupe they basically mutiny against her, and every person she comes across doesn't like her. Hell why should the audience like her when it seems no one does. The relationship with her brother is so superficial it's hard to see why she cares so much. Compare that to Durin and Elrond's relationship you and you can see the hurt in Durin when he's telling his friend how he's missed his entire life. Then Elrond realizes his mistake, and apologizes and wants to apologize to the family. That had more heart than anything with Galadriel so far.

I'm constantly hacking away at the Peter Jackson lotr films because of the wrong wording of lines in some parts or the giving of lines from one character to another character. And I really like those films! What kills me about the lord of the rings films is the line "..smote his ruin on the mountainside". That's not a thing. The line is "he broke the mountainside where he smote it in his ruin". That makes sense and I don't get why Ian McKellan didn't catch that...he had to stop and say "wait...what?! I'm not reading that!" Anyway back to the current show. I will not be suckered into something like this new tripe that clearly has no good writing. Will you people just stop playing this dumbass game with "fixing" everything that people who lived before you did?! Nobody is going to change for you, nor should they. The creators might care about such matters, but all Amazon management wants to know is, will this get a lot of viewings, will it sustain the audience, and-most critically-will it result in new or reactivated Prime subscriptions, which as near as I can fathom, is the only form of revenue (besides product licenses) it can bring in. They will not re-evaluate the series until it has completed its run, of course, and it would take a major commercial failure for them to change course.

But it is just so boring... like a great review wrote, it's too unclear what is at stake, who to root for etc. Also, there's so much shameless copying from Peter Jackson moments, but without the depth of story development or context. The Harfoots leader's speech make a Bilbo kind of joke. Or the elf that escaped the pit that gets shot down by arrows has a Boromir call-back... but without the gravitas of a well written character. (maybe an AI algorithm wrote the dialogue?) The Harfoots are just a joke and take way too much screen time so far, it's almost Tolkien being Disneyfied. Speaking of which: my bet is that Disney's upcoming Willow series will be more enjoyable than this.

this has nothingh to do with the colour of actors the woke message etc... this is just very bad television. Writers and actors are below amateurs level an absolute disaster

Tolkien without the passion for language, culture and intricate story telling is expensive modern medíocre fan fiction.

It’s an absolute snooze-fest of a tv series..

Apparently, it all goes downhill from here haha. If you yeet out I don't blame you at all. I watched the first two but no more, complete waste of my time.

Jesus. Glad I skipped the 3rd episode. I'll keep an eye out in case things pick up. Hopefully there's some cool battles that involve gravity and some sort of real world physics. At the moments it's just boring as fuck. I can't actually root for any characters yet as they're all shite.

I really want to like this series, I'm trying my best. But I'm still struggling to find any purpose for the story and narrative they're telling. Other than money, which I'm not saying as a bad thing since it's a fact, they need to make money out of it of course. But all of it just feels going through the motion of a story without a real driving force or intent behind it. Even the music, which is fine and not terrible by any means, just doesn't elicit any emotion out of me so far. For sure I'm going to continue watching this season, and I really hope that when it's all said and done, we will have a much more focused and understanding of what this show is all about. I will say that I really enjoyed the Khazad-dûm scenes in the second episode, so there's hope in my opinion.

I say just be a little more patient. I can't judge a show only 2 episodes in. Imagine judging the first 2 episodes of Breaking Bad which were super slowwwwww... would have missed out on the greatest show of all time. I'm not saying this is gonna pick up and be the best thing since slice bread, but judging it harshly only 2 episodes in, now 3 (which were all decent tbh) is really not fair. When the whole season is out, then you can give a fair assessentment of what you think imo

You know it's ok for people not to like something right? Not everyone is going to think like you. You can disagree with someone and still have an engaging conversation. You can't tell me you agree with everything your family and friends agree with correct? If you agree with everyone all the time you are really not being real with yourself.
