In Night City it’s not about what you deserve, it’s about what you get. Whether you deserve it or not. Started out as good people, who fell into Cyberpsychosis (Except for David because he already showed signs of Cyberpsychosis before getting chromed) but get screwed over at every turn just to make bad decisions on top of aaaallll that.

yea. I guess i know why many people feel kinda empty inside after watching this show: because they just didnt give enough attention to side characters. I wish they just made like some series between David being accepted into the crew and that final job where Maine died and when David became known in the streets. That would have been better cuz the time u get tied to characters they are already dead

@@Geskawary234 While having more time to know the characters would have been nice, I am not sure if doing so would have any point. Edgerunners is a prequel and because of this there is a hard limit to how much David and his crew can affect the status quo. No matter how many scabs or malestromers they kill, those gangs will still be around on 2077 and be just as powerful. No matter how many people they save, the city will not become safer. This is also an "issue" in Cyberpunk 2077, where your actions don't have lasting consequences on the city and it's gangs. But unlike in 2077, where the gigs were only sidequests and the main objective is trying to save yourself, Edgerunners is mostly about David doing these gigs - so making the show longer would end up revealing the truth that everything that they are doing has "no meaning"/"no lasting impact". Another problem with making the show longer is the lack of motivation that the characters have. Outside of Lucy who wants to go to the moon and David who wants to help her, none of the other characters have concrete objectives. They are mercenaries because that is what they do for a living. The show didn't even bother with a classic revenge plot about David tracking down the Animals that killed his mother.

I never really thought about it, but you’re right. The familiar audios that come from the game and into the anime, (calls, notifs, car horn, etc) are one of the reasons i loved CPER so much. Such a nice and comfortable vibe

Honestly, learning about the lore for all these characters only makes me appreciate the game all the more. Let alone the anime. Because even at 21:00. I know that NPC. I know that specfic cop because she tells you to be more stealthy and to roll your seat back so nobody can see you. I know the exact location as well. And just knowing that alone, makes smile knowing that even before the anime was out. You, (as V) was already somewhat connected in the great branch tree of night city legends. It just makes the world feel all the more connected and alive. WiseFish, I appreciate the work, time, and effort you put into these videos. From Edgerunners, to the different gangs, the legends of night city, and hell even how night city came to be. Even long after CDR goes onto make their new game. I'm still going to return to nightcity everynow and then. It's a main stay in my library.

I really love how Lucy's backstory was so sad before she have her parents they named are Takeshi Kushinada and Shimmer who left her when she was 12 years ago, but David's backstory was so sad too who was raised by his mother Gloria before she was pregnant with him for long time after she breaking up with her Unknown Ex Husband, and also Rebecca's backstory was great she and her older brother Pilar they have a father his named was Papa Sunrise but was so saddest backstories of the Edgerunners crew.

Wait, something is freaking off in Lucy's backstory. If her father was veteran of 4th corporate wat, meaning he was at least around 17 to 20 years old back than, and Lucy was born in between 2055 to 2057, that means he was a pretty old guy while parenting her. Either guy had enough cash to afford life extention tech, or the people outside confused him with her grandpa. Than again, Saburo had similiar issues with late parenting.

i mean, robert de niro just had a kid a couple months ago and hes a fossil. and in the cyberpunk universe, there are cybernetic treatments that extend people’s lifespans, and since Lucy’s father was an accomplished employee of Arasaka, its not a stretch to say he had access to healthcare and earned enough money to extend his life as well

Nah that’s the Exotics. The Animals are something between a Booster and an Exotic. Of course they didn’t put those in 2077 to reduce unneeded data usage I imagine.

While i really do enjoy all these backstories. Some of them feel...Off. LIke they are for the wrrong character if that makes sense. While i'd say most are very fitting , I feel as if Pillar's backstory doesn't fit his persoanlity or character. If anything it would fit if PIllar's backstory was Davids almost. I feel at least a bit like maybe he had to be slotted into rebecca's backstory due to them being siblings. He just..Doens't quite match up to his own backstory. While Lucy's backstory is...Boring. As it's littearly exactly what you'd exepct with no real new information. You can infer bascially all of it from the show. While Kiwi's is surprisginly sad and makes one really feel for and understand her. If anything, i feel it would of fit if Lucy had parts of Kiwi's backstory and Kiwi had parts of Lucy's story. As it wold fit their characters much bettter. Eeveryone else i'd say is pefect, espcially Maine's which is a surpise and yet also good twist. Funny how one choice could of had Maine as part of phantom liberty.

You're conflating two different things. The NUSA spec ops was a branch their military, during the central American war. NUSA didn't force the people who served for them in a military capacity to stay in the military permanently once the war was over. Alex is a NUSA spy/secret agent. As we've seen NUSA isn't keen on letting their agents/spies walk away. What this video was saying is Reed offered him a job to potentially become an agent, but he turned it down

I always assume Lucy is an orphan- guess that is why she got that name. They make Maine stalk Dorio, which previously was just a rather obscure meme. Don't think the son of an Edgerunner is royalty, famous or not- think the term "royalty" only applies here if your surname is "Arasaka" I always assume Kiwi is a corpo who just has an old life crisis and decided to do crime, since she is literally 80-something years old (hence Rebecca calling her a hag). It is just she has replaced so much of her body the aging doesn't look obvious- guess I was way off. Of course Falco is born in Texas, and is basically Fast & Furious (without the family part) Finally, maybe because I just can't English, all I can hear from David's back story is we still don't know who his actual dad is, and her mom is hardcore enough to give birth herself and use a not that sanitary blade to cut the cord.

They literally didn't expand on Sasha's past at all? Like does the entry in the mission kit just have a QR code with a link to the music video? And there was also just almost nothing new about David compared to the others? There's story of his birth and as a kid he pulled a Tyler Durden and let himself be beaten. That's weird how detailed every other characters back story is now except for those two.

I guess it's mainly because David already has the entire anime for his story and Sasha has a succinct story in the music video. Neither REALLY has anything else we could want to hear. David was just a kid who grew up in Santo. Sasha was yet another gal who grew up with an interest in the Net and ended up chipping the chrome to be a Netrunner. Probably did some decent solo work before getting recruited into Maine's crew.

I agree, It really sucks we didn't learn much from them. Especially Sasha since we literally don't know anything about her outside the music video and a couple small facts. They could of done so much with her character but they didn't. Really hope that we do get some more lore from her and David in the future.
